Brillo pad hair
So my dear boyfriend asked me to post this.He is growing out his hair and he keeps complaining that his hair constantly feels like a brillo pad.He uses shampoos with sulfates and conditioners with cones. In addition he uses olive oil, glycerin and jojoba oil(only recently) in a small spray bottle with a little water. I think his hair doesn't like shea butter because it makes it "crispy" but shiny. So my question is,do any of you ladies know a way that he can soften his hair and speed up the growth process of his hair?

well using a sulfate free shampoo is first..they tend to really dry out our hair..also is he doing the right steps to retain moisture such as applying a good leave, sealing with oils, and moisturizing...lol i know he's a boy and they don't really do as much with their like us but maybe he should do some deep conditioning session too

I agree with rayray19 about the sulfates. I would add:
b]conditioners with cones[/b]
these can be counterproductive. deliver soft feel, but lock out moisture making his spraying a futile step.
Exposure to the sun will also dry out his hair.

Tell him to Google the Curly Girl Method. Advise him not to focus on the girl part but master the process, and after at minimum of six weeks he will have healthy and soft hair. He will be thanking you for making this post
