News Reporters Going Natural

I just woke up and saw my friend post this link up. Two News reporters from Channel 5 have decided to go natural. Its a nice segment. I wish she would have explained a little more but hey you guys know how it is

My sister in law is a TV meteorologist and she wears a short natural. She has been told by producers and agents that it is "harsh" and "aggressive" but she won't take a job anyplace that will make her change it.

wow really? "harsh" ...that just made me so mad. She looks very pretty tell her not to let those boneheads discourage her. I don't know why people act as if our hair doesn't grow

Thank you so much for creating this thread! This topic really hits home for me because I'm currently pursuing a career in journalism in college, and on-air reporting is something I really want to do. I had concerns going natural knowing that there aren't many black female reporters with natural hair, but I decided if it's meant for me to have the job they'll accept me for EVERYTHING I am!

Both ladies look amazing! I'm so excited to begin my career lol!

Same I'm in journalism and after seeing this I was so happy and sent it to my mom so hopefully she would shut about me having to change my hair for interviews....nope she said "see she said she had to have weave to get promoted." ughhhhh

Np:) i thought everyone should it because its hard to find news reporters who are natural. I actually want to be a video jockey which is pretty much like a news reporter except with music. I never thought i could break my habit of wearing straight styles and weaves and i finally let it go last month for the first time. Its truth they will like us for us! As a news reporter (in central Wisconsin), I've gotten nothing but compliments on my hair, and I live in an area that is 98% non-people of color. Mostly I get a lot of questions, but since transitioning last year, majority of women are just intrigued by it.

As long as it's cute, editors or producers really don't care.
