I like to divide my pony tail in four sections, two strand twist each one, and then wrap them around and bobby pin in place.

That is a very pretty bun tiashauntee. I haven't tried the bun yet but I think I may.

I simply gather my hair up high and wrap a scrunchie around it twice. I pull my hair through to the ends then wrap another scrunchie around once. It there are any loose strands of hair, I just tuck them in the second scrunchie. If I want a neater bun, I use a foam donut that I covered with black satin. My hair is about apl.

@immacurlie: Your curls are gorgeous. I use a donut as well but never thought to cover it with silk/satin. The next time at a vintage/consignment shop, I'll be sure to pick up some silk scarves for this and to line my wool hats.

Thank you! I rarely wear my hair curly. It is too much of a hassle. For my donut, I used an old black slip that I never wear. I can't sew, so it looks like crap, but my hair covers it.

Thanks immacurlie for that link. That bun looks so much simpler than using the donut but I don't know if my hair is long enough yet. Will try on my next wash day.

I normally put my hair in a pony tail and either wrap all the hair around the base and pin or section into 3 or 4, double strand twist and wrap those around or pin them under.

I like this southern tease bun technique. I will definitely try it!
