Hair Troubles
Long Story:
Natural for over 7 years. I was locked for five years, I took down my locs, because I was bored. I wanted to be able to wear my hair in cute natural styles and also be able to wear it in straight styles. I had my hair straightened and heat damage took place. A lot of my hair will not revert. I am really not that great at styling my hair, my hair is very tight. Where I work I have to be careful on how much "fluffing" I do. Not sure what to do now with my hair. I am not going back to relaxers, but I am just at a lost. I feel like every style I attempt comes out wrong :-(

Braid out today - Seems to tight and just does not look as nice as when others have their braid out

You can see the ends that did not revert :-(

Re: Hair Troubles
I think your braid out looks nice & it will probably loosen and the day goes on. You can gradually trim the heat damage off or set them on rods/rollers when you do braid/twist outs.

Re: Hair Troubles
Thank you, I guess I have to become more comfortable with shrinkage. My locs were down my back, and now I feel strange that my hair does not move. Any advice on how I can occasionally wear my hair straight without encountering heat damage?

What if you do a rollerset and then blow dry/flat iron just the roots? Or do the no-heat silk wrap, I forget who did the video on youtube but Curlynikki def, posted it on this blog (maybe it was mahogonycurls?)

Thank you! I had no clue about that, I just checked it out. Does any type of hooded dryer work?

I would imagine so, I tried variations of it and I think my hooded dryer is hot tools.
