Flowers in Your Hair
So ladies, I looooove the whole flower in the hair style, but I'm having a hard time finding flowers...where the heck do you guys get 'em? online?
I've seen the scrunchy type, but that's not really what I'm looking for. I might just have to go to Michaels and start making my own hmm.. (that may actually be a good idea). Let me know!

Michael's may be your best bet b/c at least they'll be unique and original! I found some recently at Forever 21...they were attached to bobby pins. Is that the kind you're looking for?

Re: Flowers in Your Hair
Yeah I found some at Claires, thats all I wore when I did the BC. But I like the idea of going to Michaels and making your own. Has anyone ever tried to make their own scarves? I wear a lot but I never tried to make my own. Maybe this can be a new hobby of mine.
Re: Flowers in Your Hair
@ StacyB: I've never made my own scarf, but I have made my own accessories. It's pretty easy. If you go to a store like Michael's, look around for loose flowers that have fallen off the stem, but are still in good condition. I was able to get about 10 flowers for free that way. I also found a lot of small, silk and paper-like flowers on clearance.
There's another thread about hair accessories that has a ton of suggestions on places to buy them. I'll see if I can find it and post the link.

I see them all of the time, but there are usually plenty at Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, and on Etsy just to name a few....

Re: Flowers in Your Hair
@CurlyNikki: No, they don't have anything attached to them. You'd have to attach them to a comb or a double prong (or single prong) clip. Or, if the flower has a stem that is in good shape, you could just stick the flower itself in your hair.

I often make my own stuff from Michaels (same as travel junkie) but I also get ideas at craft shows where they also have tons you can purchase.

Re: Flowers in Your Hair
@traveljunkie how did you get the flowers on the ponytail holders? Did you remove the stem and hot glue? Please share.

Re: Flowers in Your Hair
@labon10: The flowers I used for the ponytail holders were some type of craft flowers. I don't have the package anymore so I don't remember exactly what they were called, but you find them in the scrapbooking/craft section of Michaels. You can probably do it with the flowers with the stem too, but I haven't done that.
Anyway, you wrap a small piece of ribbon around the ponytail holder, and seal the ends with hot glue. Then you glue the flower to the ribbon. I took a pic of the back of it so you can see:

This is what it looks like on (a pic from my transitioning days):

Hope that helps!

Re: Flowers in Your Hair
Autunm of Curly Chronicles has a flower clip tutorial (link below) that I followed, and it helped me make some accessories for myself. The only difference it that I used Gem Tac to adhere my flowers to the clips. I found it works much better than a hot glue gun. I buy my flowers from the Dollar Tree.

I have, for my hair. I've used old t-shirts, fabric from the fabric store and even winter scarfs! I cut the material how long & double wide I want the scarf to be. Then fold it in half and iron it.
I suggest making the scarf longer than you want it. You always cut it down if it's too long!
Re: Flowers in Your Hair
Claire''s has a lot of cute flowers for hair with a pin atached. They have little ones and big ones. I also saw some at Forever 21

Re: Flowers in Your Hair
I just made some awesome hair clips today. One even doubles as a brooch. If you take at some DIY sites, and blogs like stilldottie.blogspot.com, you can find some great guides.
