I noticed when I do my twist outs, my hair seems to take better on the ends? How can start to get some type of definition starting at the roots. I twists as much as I can close to the scalp. I never tried to flat twist because I don't know how. I've head the Kinky Curl Curling custard is pretty good. I've been using the eco styler gel. Maybe I should try switching to the custard? Does it make your hair hard?

You can try braiding at the roots for about an inch or two then twist.

KCCC is a product that many have to try a few times to get it right. I suggest using a little (less than a pea size) on a one inch section to see how it feels and how it dries. You can then use that as a gauge in larger sections. When done right, it will dry with hold and some crunch but nothing you cannot scrunch out (SOTC) without pulling hair taut or using a bit of oil.

I thought about that, but my hair is too short to try to braid then twist. I can barely get in enough to do a good twist - LOL. But, I just came from Target and of course they didn't have the KCCC, I have had nothing bad luck when trying to find it. So, I ended up buying the Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie. I'll try that to see how that does on my hair. It has all the good stuff, but then I saw silk protein. So, I don't know if my hair will like that.
