Professionally Natural
Where I currently work, I can wear just about anything but have been going back to school to get my masters so I can go back into the banking field which has always been very conservative. How can I reign in my artsy/funky wash-n-go 'fro (which I now love) to something more corporate?

Hi Kdiva430,
Go to the Butters n Bars thread! There's a TON of different styles in there. Better yet, just navigate the entire forum everything on here is great, especially products that other curly divas have tried!!! Good Luck!!!

Re: Professionally Natural
Hey Kdiva-how funny, i am going back to school to get out of banking:)
I have found that keeping my hair in two stand twists, gives me a lot of options of doing "professional styles". I have short-medium length hair and i do pin ups, straight back into a baby pony tail, bantu knot outs for the curly look. I do a few other things too but I won't go in there w/ my weekend style - a fro. hope this helps:

Re: Professionally Natural
This summer I was interning at a law firm, which is also a super conservative field. I did mostly buns and low puffs. Bantu knot outs were my favorite style to use as the basis for a bun, since it stretches my hair out and curled it in a way that was perfectly simple to pull into a cute bun. I would wash my hair on Saturday, braid/twist/bantu it, then take it out and style it on Monday.

Re: Professionally Natural
My hubby is in banking and he had locs. As long as he wears them out of his face no one has a problem.
I think a neat puff, buns, and twist would be acceptable in the workplace. Once they get used to you then you can ease in with more styles. I like to wear my hair as big as I can (I'm in a snobby office) and I mostly get compliments. I guess that is a plus for working in a predominately white office.

If the job market wasn't as tight as it is currently, I wouldn't worry as much. I don't quite have enough to wear a bun. I somehow feel like I need at least a go to interview look that will let them focus on me.

Re: Professionally Natural
KDiva430 I think the way your hair is in your avatar is just fine for an interview.

Have tried a roller set? I don't think that would be to distracting but will still be neat and professional.
Re: Professionally Natural
@ mojitochica - Thanks- sometimes I can get it to look neater than others. It does its own thing more times than not. I need to find someone who can cut it (trim it, I am scissor phobic) and give it a good shape.
@ tiashauntee - No - now that is longer, and starting to get cold (Dallas, TX) that is something I will have to try. Nmoultry's roller set was ab fab!
