BUNNING FOR GROWTH 2M Challenge!!!
Hi Ladies,
I've decided that since it's so hot outside, I am going to wash my hair daily, and wear it in a bun/ponytail. In the past, I've gotten excellent growth doing this, however my ends suffered.
Well I've decided to do this again, but this time making sure to pay close attention to my ends so that they don't suffer.
Rules are:
1. Must post starting pics
2. Wear your hair in a wet/dry bun at least 3-4 days/week.
3. State products you are using to achieve your bun.
4. Post ending pics to that we can see if you were able to achieve any significant growth in the 2m period.
Let me know if you are interested in joining.....

Re: BUNNING FOR GROWTH 2M Challenge!!!
I will be going back and forth between buns and twists, but I can't do buns full time. My hair starts to break from the ponytail holder/band no matter why type I use.
I used to get dry ends too, but I started braiding my ponytail and tucking the end back into the braid, instead of underneath the band. Also, I kept it moist and slathered with some type of sealant like shea.

Re: BUNNING FOR GROWTH 2M Challenge!!!
I'm in I just decided I need to start bunning to keep my ends protected. I want to retain as much length as possible this summer.

Re: BUNNING FOR GROWTH 2M Challenge!!!
I am definitely a fan of and strong believer in bunning!
What I learned is that I have to apply a lot of moisturizer and make sure to seal my ends so that they won't dry out while up in the bun.
Since I bunned all winter I am trying to do styles this summer that do not require any hair ties or elastic bands. But, I will be keeping up with the challenge. Good luck all!

I hope I'm not too late. This is just what I need. I am having a really hard time with retaining length and I am getting frustrated [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] . So this challenge is right. on. time.

I think I'll join you. I've been bunning for interviews anyway, so I might as well get on board with the challenge. This will be my first one! How do you usually post the starting pics...curly or stretched?

Re: BUNNING FOR GROWTH 2M Challenge!!!
I would love to join this challenge but I have no clue how to moisture and seal my ends/hair while doing weekly buns, without over manipulating my hair.

Re: BUNNING FOR GROWTH 2M Challenge!!!
@Keisha: I've worn the same bun for an entire week without taking it down. By the end of the week my ends were still soft and moisturzed. You just need to make sure you moisturize & seal really well before you complete the bun .. I also covered my bun with a baggie in the middle of the week, it seemed to reactivate the moisturizer.
Re: BUNNING FOR GROWTH 2M Challenge!!!
thanks s4pphir3... i'll try that tonight and baggy over the weekend and see how that works out. If all goes well and its not too late, i'll join the challenge on monday [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Hey ladies...Will post pics tonight.
Keisha it's not to late to join this challenge. And yes, smoothing edges down with a brush is totally fine. I can also maintain my buns for about 4-5 days w/out taking it down. My hair is basically sopping wet when I first bun. I cover at night w/ a silk scarf. Then around day 3, I respritz my bun and apply an oil blend. Hair stays moisturized the entire time. In the past, I wouldn't re-spritz, and my ends got extremely dry and tangled.

Ooop2, I am going to join this challenge on Tuesday, if that's alright. I'm allowing myself an 'out' weekend for 'fro day.
What do you use to moisturise your wet hair? A light leave in? A butter/oil?

I just cut off about 2in of my hair, so I'm back at 6.
Wore my hair like this today after deep conditioning w/Aubrey Organics Protein Condish and EVOO.

Both...I'll wash or cowash my hair. Sometime I add EVOO to my hair during the condish process, then lightly rinse. Other times, I'll completely wash my hair out, add leave in, and my shea mix. And if wearing a WnG bun, I will apply ECO gel to my edges. If wearing a twist bun, I just let it air dry some, then put my hair up into a bun....
I'll be wearing a twisted bun thru Sat, then rocking my BAA on Sunday. It will be my first time wearing my big hair to church.

Re: BUNNING FOR GROWTH 2M Challenge!!!
Happy 4th ladies... just checking in. today was my 1st day on the bun challenge. I cowashed using TJ tea tree tingle and I used HE Hyrdalicious as a leave in, im in the works of finding a "real" leave in... thinking about the Giovanni line. I have kinky curly knot today, imo, its an alright leave in, nothing to spend $14 on regularly.
Anyway, I parted my hair into 4 sections, moisturizing each section with Bee Mines: Bee loved hair and scalp moisturizer and sealed my ends with a mix of coconut oil and shea butter. Then I applied deva curl AnGel to my edges and used a boar bristle brush to smooth them down. I did my 1st ever wet bun today. It was alright, 1 pro of doing the wet bun was no shrinkage... 1 con of wet bunning is that it takes forever to dry.
I was rushing this afternoon to get to my friends bbq and I didnt get a chance to leave my silk scarf on for long so my hair wasnt as slick and I would have liked it to be, but no fear i'll definitely incorporate wet buns on cowash days and wash days.

Re: BUNNING FOR GROWTH 2M Challenge!!!
Okay guys, I have to bow out of the bunning challenge - I'm a bunning failure ...
The wet bun was a massive fail - hair everywhere, getting on so unruly, couldn't wrangle it into a bun to save my life!
The dry bun behaved better but it was just too dry for my hair, despite twice daily spritzing and oiling my poor baby just looked parched.
So I'm going back to my twisting regime but will be popping in here to see everyone's buns, and maybe with a bit more growth I will be able to try bunning again!
