Thanks Tia. I am gonna go back to Walgreens and get the small bottle of castor oil until the big bottle comes. I ordered it from iherb.com.

End of the Month=Shampoo Time
I am trying my hand at prepooing for the first time. Last night I carefully took out my two strand twists, I only used my fingers but still experienced a lot of shedding. I know I am going to have a mess when I shampoo. But I haven't combed my hair for a month so this is expected.
Last night I separated my hair into four sections, oiled each section with coconut oil, braided, and put on a plastic shower cap. I slept in the cap and I still have it on now under my hat . Hats are great for hiding, LOL!
I am still clueless about how I am going to style my hair. I want something that will make it easy to access my scalp but is still a protective style.....kinky hair drama

Did you ever find that pony puff you were looking for? The cornrows and puffs would be a good idea and give you easy access to your scalp. Also are you planning to use an applicator bottle for your castor oil mix? That could give you easy access no matter the style.

You can use an applicator bottle. I plan bunning for a while. I'll do my initial oiling after co-wash - air dry in plaits and then bun. At mid-week undue bun and oil my scalp. Shouldn't be too much munipulation.

Tia, are you going to continue to use the aloe grow mix during the challenge?

Re: ♥ tiashauntee ♥
I am going to look for the puff today and yes I do have an applicator bottle. I purchased "roots only" color applicator. I think I am going to puff for a week and then bun the next.
Re: ♥ tiashauntee ♥
Yes, because I only use that on my ends to moisturize.Lynnieluve wrote:Tia, are you going to continue to use the aloe grow mix during the challenge?

My scalp is itching like crazy. Hopefully the castor oil helps with that.

I didn't even think about that. I hope so too. But I will be co-washing every week so it shouldn't get too bad.Lynnieluve wrote:My scalp is itching like crazy. Hopefully the castor oil helps with that.

I also have no clue what to do to my hair, since I need to keep my scalp oiled! I'm going to try to do my first bun today!

You can do it!!!!!!!!
Re: ♥ tiashauntee ♥
Tia,
I saw the list of oils that you can combine with the Castor oil on your blog. Do you think I can combine the Africa's Best oil with it? I recently started using that oil this week (purchased a while ago thanks to you). I like the smell and wanted to combine it with my castor. It gives off AMAZING shine!

In my opinion, absolutely! I think African's Best is awesome all by itself. If you hair likes it already-use it.

This weekend I gave my scalp a much needed shampoo and it felt great. I used my new roots only "toy" that I picked up from Wal-Mart and it was great with only applying the shampoo to my scalp. I hair didn't feel stripped or dry. However, I shedded like crazy. I stopped up the tub so bad that we had to use the other shower. I will be making a trip to Wal-Mart (again) for some drain-pro. If it wasn't for the fact that I didn't comb my hair for a month I would have been really concerned about all that hair.
Yesterday I did some flat twists and a bun for this week's style. I only used water and shea butter as my styling aids. I don't like the style so I made end up co-washing and doing a simple bun. I couldn't get the twists to curve so my parts are going straight back and I look like I am ready to Set It Off.
I also did an examination of my ends and I will admit that I was a little disappointed in what I saw. Why too many knots and a few split ends. I was not happy. Anyone got any recommendations?
I ended up trimming about 1/4 inch all over-something else I did not like but it was necessary.
Re: ♥ tiashauntee ♥
and I think the splits and knots came from the curly ends of my two strands twists. I never noticed a problem from my months of bunning. The curls on the end looked nice but I would rather not have splits. I am so confused-I was doing great for a while. Booo

Aw, I had the same issue with my ends, I realize that my main issue is learning to protect them. I was going to do the twists for the month like you did, but I think I am going to do box braids instead, I used to do that before.
Re: ♥ tiashauntee ♥
Sorry about the ends problem. I hope you find a solution.

Thank you, I am searching for one now. I am toying with ideas ranging for more henna treatments to doing an at home hair mask.
