Newday Loving Her Journey on CN
Hi everyone! I have been lurking for a while on CN and have learned so much it is unbelievable.
A little about my journey...
My last relaxer was October 2009. I was talking to a friend on the phone and she mentioned she was 'going natural' and how easy it was. I was listening but not really. Then a few weeks later I saw her and thought to myself... "I thought she said she had stop getting relaxers, but it doesn't look like it." So I asked what was going on and she tells me she went to this Stylist's demonstration where this hairdresser was showing people how they could stop getting relaxers and still have sleek straight hair by using a steamer and then flat ironing the hair. The hairdresser was saying that the process resulted in healthy hair with little to no breakage. I was like - WHAT - I might want to look into this because my hair was not right. It seemed every time I combed this mane, there was more hair on the floor than on my head. So I told my husband what I wanted to do. He was like, well if you want to you should do it (I wasn't sure how he would take it). So cool!! That's how I started - steamer and flat ironing my hair - every two weeks.
Needless to say this was not going to work for me for very long. Why? Well 1 - I like to wash my hair every week or the itching starts looking like I should be on the corner somewhere. And 2 - I don't have that king of money ($70) to pay someone to do my hair every two weeks. So by Decemeber I washed my hair on an off week and was not happy. My roots were THICK and I did not know what to do with my hair. I was on the verge of calling my hairdresser and telling her to put the crack back in my head. But before I did that, I googled "going natural" and guessed what popped up??!!! Curly Nikki and I have been hooked ever since!!
I can not expressed how happy and delighted I am that I found this site and the forum. You ladies are beyond wonderful and encouraging. I have learned so much. Oh and by the way, I have stopped flat ironing my hair. It is growing like a weed and when I do comb my hair - soaking wet with conditioner - there is very little hair in the comb.
Thank you all for the wealth of knowledge and the inspiration. Because of you, I am itching to cut off the relaxed ends and rock my TWA!!! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!

Wow, I am moving slow today! I hope everyone is well. I need to wash my hair but I'm trying to wait for my Koils by Nature order to arrive. I heard such great things about it and with the free shipping last week I jumped on the bandwagon. Hopefully, it will be here today - fingers crossed!!

I Got My Koils... Now What to Do?
So my Koils package came yesterday!! I am so excited!! I got the Butter in Sweet Almond Joy and the Gel in Lavender/ Eucalyptus. I think I will wash, deep condition and then do a twistout. I am so excited!!! I think I already said that.

Thanks Curls!
So I deep conditioned overnight with SheaMoisture masque mixed with Brahmi powder. Now my hair is in twists and curlers, I used my Koils butter and gel - they smell so devine. If this style comes out the way I hope, I will post a pic.

Re: Newday - DC Trip and Hair Pics
It's been awhile... my grandmother passed and her funeral was last week. She was an amazing woman in a petite package, may she rest in peace.
I finally added a photo for my avatar. The photo is from my phone, sorry it's so blurry. I have been using the Koils by Nature products for about two weeks and have fallen in love. My main problem is keeping my hand out of my hair. The avatar is third day twistout pinned into a bun. I thought I took a picture of first day hair, but I didn't see it in the phone, so I must not have. I think the style came out cute, if I do say so myself.

First, you have my condolences. I remember when I lost my nanny. If you are like me, you have plenty of great memories.
Second, welcome!
I look forward to trying more of Koils by Nature's products.

I'm a bit late, but welcome to CSJ. I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother. I really miss both of mine...there were a joy to have in my life!!!
I love KBN just starting using that product last week. I'm in a 30 day product challenge, but I like to wear my hair in different style now that it is growing so I'm not doing good in that challenge at all!! LOL
Look forward to sharing this journey with you!!

Re: Newday - DC Trip and Hair Pics
Thanks Ladies.
As for the flower, I made it. I bought the flower at Joann's and attached it to a hair pin with a piece of felt and hot glue.
I washed (Dr. Bonner's) and condish(VO5 and Organics) my hair today. I am leaning towards cutting/ bc sooner rather than later. I am not sure if I am ready though. I used the KBN again for a high flat twist out. I think I like the results of a flat twistout better than the regular twistout -more definition.

Re: Newday - DC Trip and Hair Pics
I've decided that I have had enough!! I am cutting my hair on June 1 (or sooner) after. I washed and deep conditioned over the weekend and was very close to just cutting it then but hubby was out of town and I wanted him to be here for support. It doesn't help that I was on three-way with my Mom and sister on Sunday and they tell me she BC'd. I was like "What??" How do you spell envy!! And she looks cute too! The scissors are iin the drawer calling my name.
