finger coils
Hello ladies! I want to try finger coils on my hair after the twist challenge. If you have done this, what product did you use? I dont want the coils to dry hard. TIA!!

Re: finger coils
I haven't done the finger coils on my hair yet, but Eco Style Olive Oil gel should get it hard for you..and it doesn't flake.

Re: finger coils
Here is a video of some that I did if you are interested. I was not talking in it because my daughter was asleep. I was just showing how I did mine and what I used.

I forgot to add that they ringlets stayed soft and shiney for a couple of days. They did not go flat the next morning either.

Re: finger coils
@Sweetdrk1 wow your coils are perfect!
I did a finger coil puff a couple of weeks ago and it turned out pretty decent...I used Giovanni Direct leave-in and Ecostyler Olive Oil gel.

ok im a newbie, just did my bc on 4/26/10 and did my first finger coil ( I think; my avatar picture), so I'm still learning. it looks like our hair textures are similar, and i notice that in your last picture it looks kinda puffy and then curly (does that make sense). this is how mine looks, and i wanted to know is this normal? i was also reading other posts on scab hair and was wondering if that had something to do with why certain areas of my hair looked puffy and then the curl...

Re: finger coils
Your should try the eco custard. It's a mixture of gel and oils.
1/2 cup of eco styler gel
1 tablespoon of castor oil
1 tablespoon of EVOO
1 tablespoon of avocado oil
1/2 cup of eco styler gel
1 tablespoon of castor oil
1 tablespoon of EVOO
1 tablespoon of avocado oil

Re: finger coils
@jaylin20032003: I think the last pic looks puffy at the roots because I made the mistake of applying the gel to small sections as I went (I didn't add any gel at the roots), instead of just applying the gel to the entire puff and then doing the coils. Plus I couldn't keep my hands out of my hair, as usual lol! Also, I forgot to add that the last 2 pics were taken on day 3 of the style.
I don't know much about scab hair though, sorry!

I use Eco-Styler and Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Make sure you have some good movies to watch because you will be sitting for a while. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Re: finger coils
Hey NaturalNixon. I'm not sure if you remember, but I'm in the twist challenge too and recently took 4days off and wore finger coils. I did my normal reggie (co-wash, leave-in, and oil), then on soaking wet hair, I grabbed little pieces of hair, applied eco styler (the clear one) and coiled them. They are not 100% defined or tight to the scalp because that is not the look I was going for. But they dried very soft, not crunchy at all. They were smushed in the morning, but I just revived by running my hair through the shower head for about 5 seconds then shake. It lasted all 4 days and looked just like day 1 every day. Here is a pic:

Yes, I used it on my two strand twist this week. So far I love the results...I'll be doing my twistout tomorrow. The custard will be replacing my ORS Lock and Twist gel.
As soon as the twist challenge is over, I am gonna try coils again.

Re: finger coils
I use my Uncle Funky's Daughter Curl Magic or Kinky Curly Curling Custard with Knots Today and I spritz with Aloe Juice, coconut oil and glycerin every morning. I were my coils for up to two weeks.

I'm pretty sure you can....you can replace it with a light oil like jojoba.

Re: finger coils
Lynnie - I was thinking of using the ORS Twist and Lock gel instead of the KCCC. What do you think?
