Graduation Hair
Good morning ladies.
Were any of you chicas natural when you graduated from college (or high school)? I am having the hardest time trying to figure out what to do for my hair and graduation is next week. Eeeek!!! I was thinking the style in my avatar but that would require pins for my cap---tried it on and it was cute!!--- and I can rarely imitate a perfected hairstyle like that lol it came out a little different the second time I did it so I'm scared to even go there!
I recently straightened my hair (for my ends and a length check) and tried my cap on with that. O....m....g. Horrendous! College grad caps seem to be smaller or something b/c I didnt go through that for h.s lol Even if my aunt hooked me up with a bomb, sleek straightening I still dunno how thats gonna look (my version is just about hits-ville right now, my edges are frizzy after 1 week).
Any style suggestions? I really don't wanna straighten and its no telling how my hair will look if I do my rod set or even if I go to my natural salon (cough---too much $$$$ for a straw-set!!!)
Lol any advice is appreciated [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
P.S guess who's pic showed up in the google images search of college graduation hairstyles for natural hair lol......Curly Nikki of course!!! yay!!!

I was so confused when I was in this situation (2004) and one piece of advice I have is if you have an outdoor graduation like we did, don't straighten your hair. I looked like boo the fool for 90% of the day because my hair puffed up and I was mad because rain was not predicted in the forecast.
If I had to do it all over again and would do a super defined twist out.

Omg! Yes they are!! lol I was looking at my cousins' grad pics and their caps looked even smaller like they're meant to just sit on the back of our heads or something

Lol Thats why I don't want to straighten it; usually our school had it outdoors, now its supposed to be indoors but who knows--they might decide to spring a surprise and change it lol. It would really be tragic if I had a press and it frizzed up b/c they're doing close-ups on the dvd as we're being called [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I want a straw set with strawllers lol but idk--dont really wanna spend an extra limb for express shipping.....
Re: Graduation Hair
I love your hair in your avi!
I think Strawllers would be pretty cute, I recommended them in Erica's thread. I like Erica's idea of the twists then twist out though.

Re: Graduation Hair
I just saw you mention Strawllers. Did you check out their store locator? They might sell them in your area, I don't remember but I know they sold them in NY.
Also, you can try regular straws. Now I would imagine it would be different since regular straws are not hard so don't give you much hold but you should be able to get similar results. I would hit up Mickey D's, then in the future maybe you can invest in some Strawllers. Also, I believe a store near me sells flexi-rods that are about the same size as Strawllers, I think they were yellow, so maybe you can look out for that.
I'm sure whatever you do you will look great! GL & congrats!

I want strawllers!! lol Smaller flexi-rods will probably have to do it for now since there aren't any stores in MI that sell strawllers yet [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] .
