Half curly Half Straight Empty Half curly Half Straight

I have been natural for about 3 years now. Before then I only permed my hair twice a year (but always wore it straight regardless). I am now noticing that the left side of my head curls perfectly but the front right portion of my hair is still pretty straight (and even limp). Even when I do a twist out the left side is bouncy all day and the right side starts to drop about midday. No matter what natural style I go for I cant get that section of my hair to curl right. Could it be a result of too much straightening? If so, is there any one that is experiencing this and hopefully knows how to remedy it? I was thinikin along the lines of a cut....I'll try to post a pic pretty soon. I greatly appreciate all feedback!

It sounds like heat damage. If you have been straightening for years then I highly doubt your hair will revert even with deep conditioning treatmeants. I would suggest cutting off a little at a time if possible and of course, ditch the heat or use it as little as possible. If you still choose to use it, definitely take all of the proper precautions. Deep condition, use a heat protectant, don't use highest heat setting, don't repeatedly go over the same section of hair too many times. Try stretching the hair (banding, twists, braids) before using heat so you don't have to use as much. That is of course if you want to continue using heat.

Good luck!

Hey my hair is the same way but it's my front and left side that is straighter...That's just the way my hair grows...when I was relaxed I always noticed my right side (my curlier side) always stuck out a bit, I thought it was because of the direction I wrapped my hair every night...

NikG20 gave great advice. You could also wear your hair half up half down and in ponytails/buns. Try braiding or twisting hair on days two and beyond. This may elongate the more curly part while providing texture to the less curly part. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the feedback, especially NikG20! I was hoping it wasnt heat damage but it does seem likely (damn flat irons [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]) I wish it was the back of my hair because then I could just chop it off, but Im not tryna walk around with a patch of hair missing at the front of my head, lol. I was hoping that the hair would start to grow in curly at the roots at least but even my roots are straight from that portion of hair! What heat protection products do you guys recommend? I heard grape seed oil was a good one....
