Beer:To define your curls

I heard at a natural hair gathering that you can use beer to define your curls. But I cannot remember how to use it-I think you just pour it on after you co-wash. If anyone knows how-please share the steps!

Hey there. Just a heads up. I don't think beer defines your curls just for curls sake. The girl at the meetup, as well as most of the YouTube people who used it, used it to RE-DEFINE their curls after them becoming straight due to heat damage. As in, to make the straight parts curl again. Not like a gel or KCCC or hair milk for curl definition. From what I saw of your hair, your curls are already pretty defined. I think my husband may commit me if I use beer in my hair. Not because it is being used in my hair, but just because I wasted a good can or bottle of beer. LOL!! I have never heard of that before but it is very interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Yep its called a beer rinse and the beer has to be flat/old. PrettyDimples tried it on her hair after getting her hair straightened and lost some of her curl pattern.

Ktoliver...she made sure to say flat beer and even try to find someone with beer thats at least a year old. I called around lol but I couldn't find any so I didn't try it.

My non-African American maternal grandmother used to do this on me when I was a child, but she did it for the shine. As I remember it she mixed the home-brewed beer with rain water. Sometimes the beer was mixed with egg or honey....not sure which and she's not here with us to ask anymore.
