Denman brush or wide tooth comb
Ok everyone has their own tools that they use to detangle their hair. So which one is your preference ladies? I have yet to buy a denman brush one cause they are expensive and another reason is I can only find one type locally at one place. Now that my hair is longer I can't just finger comb and that be it cause I will have tangles for days. So which one is better ladies IYO? And if you use a wide tooth comb is it seamless or does that really make a difference?

Re: Denman brush or wide tooth comb
I use a wide tooth comb to detangle and a denman to style, if that makes sense. I can't get the right angle with the denman, I think, to prevent it from pulling out my hair so I only use it after I've already detangled.

I'm the same as jcanalena, I use my width tooth comb for detangle, and the denman to smooth-- if i'm going to braid or roller set.
Re: Denman brush or wide tooth comb
I use Denmans to detangle and style, but I also use wide tooth combs. Just depends on my mood. I can't live without either though.

I use the brush at the end of this video. It's actually a Goody product and it costs about $10

Re: Denman brush or wide tooth comb
I have a fake Denman but It works just like the real one. I detangle first with my wide tooth comb then go over that section with the denman to get the small knots.

Re: Denman brush or wide tooth comb
I use a Denman. The wide tooth comb just take why too long to detangle. The Denman works wonders and my hair doesn't retangle like with a wide tooth comb. A lot of people complain about a Denman pulling there hair out, I just think they're trying to rip it though there hair because I've never had that problem.

Re: Denman brush or wide tooth comb
I've used a wide toothed comb in the past (when my hair was bigger/longer) but it just doesn't get ALL the shed hair. I would go to style and find CLUMPS of shed hair on my hands. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] So I'll give the Denman a shot when my hair gets long enough for regular detangling.

@Blondie [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] That's a lot of Denmans!
I must detangle my daughters hair with my fingers before ANYTHING! This has made a huge difference. After that I will use a wide tooth comb and sometimes following that the Denman D3. Lately I have been using the modified Denman D3 (after seeing the post on CN.)

Re: Denman brush or wide tooth comb
Like NikG20, I start out finger combing. Then I use a modified denman for detangling. I like the modified denman brush because it gets all the shed hair better than a wide toothed comb but is a little more gentler than the regular denman.
here's a vid on it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nf-mH5Mxuik
