Interview hair
Hi everyone! I need your help.
I have been wearing my hair in its natural state for almost a year.
At the end of 2009 I got laid off and started the process of looking for another job. I feel pressure to straighten my hair when an interview comes around.
Is there anyone on here, working in human resources, who can give me some insight into whether or not women with natural hair are perceived differently than those with straight hair when they are interviewing for a job?

I've been interviewing also and I either wear a low puff or a bun. You don't need to straghten your hair for an interview.

Re: Interview hair
Like I told Pinkrage, dont straighten your hair for an interview. If you get the job, are you gonna continue to straighten? Probably not.
If you normally wear your hair curly, I say continue to wear it curly.
Good luck on your interview!!

Re: Interview hair
I BC's earlier this month and I have had 3 job interviews. I don't have enough hair to pull up in a bun so I wore my TWA. One of the interviews was a 2nd interview and they have already called my references. I am going to get one of these jobs. Oh and they are concidered perfessional positions. Re: Interview hair
@Kmechelleb I probably wouldnt straighten mine either! Im in the exact same situation...I was laid off a few months ago as well, so I've been interviewing for jobs and the interviews that I have been on, I've either worn a really nice low bun (which by the way looks very classy and professional with a suit! Gives the interviewer a chance to see your beautiful face! Learned that at a job seminar!) or a half up, half down pin up. I only did that once...I really like the low bun though! I say if you hadn't planned on straightening it anyway, then don't! Just go for a classy, clean, chic look!

Re: Interview hair
I agree with the buns. I've even worn a very tight and neat puff to interviews. But definitely don't straighten your hair.
Re: Interview hair
I interviewed with curly hair, and was hired with curly hair..I never considered straightening my hair for the interview.
