Straightening my hair for the FIRST TIME!
I'm going to my dance team's banquet Thursday night and I would like to straighten my hair myself. But I'm a little scared so can anyone help me, step by step, what I need to do, products to use, how hot the iron should be, etc.
Also, I'm do for a henna treatment. Can I henna right before or is that too much at one time?

Re: Straightening my hair for the FIRST TIME!
I just had this dilemma on Friday! lol I was going to my military ball and I wanted my hair straight. Here's what I did.
1. I proceeded to detangle my hair using a wide tooth comb. I sectioned my hair, sprayed a section with my spray bottle of water and conditioner, detangled with my comb and then sealed that section with EVOO. I put that section into a ponytail and moved on to the next section.
2. After each section was detangled, I had a bunch of ponytails all over my head lol. I then got my blow dryer with comb attachment and took down 1 section, applied heat protectant and blow dried on low with the hottest setting. Once that section was dry I went on to the next section.
3. I then got out my flat iron, put in on the 320 setting. and flat ironed each section after apply more heat protectant.
I was very happy with the results!

Re: Straightening my hair for the FIRST TIME!
CQueso, My hair hasn't been straightened since July, but I have been researching for a couple of months for when I feel the urge. Here are a couple of YT links for you to persue.

On the henna issue, 1) I wouldn't advise straightening after henna b/c your hair needs recovery time after henna. The hair needs a moisturizing dc. and many ppl's hair doesn't recover until the 2nd dc. 2) Henna process alone is a lot of work, so that would be a long day by itself.
Bueno suerte!
