Re: What gives your hair a great curl definition?
Hey Psbest!!! what works for me right now is my Aussie Moist and and olive oil deep conditioner (i forgot who makes it). my hair is a cheap date and Im going with it. I also use a hard paddle brush to "pop" my curls. I think Im a 3c or 4a.

My hair is still very short, but on the sides and in the back i get nice curls by using Hollywood Olive oil creme, coconut oil to seal and some Lock and Twist gel.

Re: What gives your hair a great curl definition?
I'm mostly 4a with a little 3c thrown in and almost any type of gel like product (whether it's natural aloe vera straight from the plant or synthetic PVP/Carbomer) gives me good definition. My staple gel is KCCC. Though most gels provide good definition, most of them do not perform the way KCCC does in my hair. In addition to the defintion, KCCC leaves no flakes, and if I over apply and my hair dries hard/crunchy, it can easily be scrunched out with an oil without any loss of definition. I can also get 7 days+ definition.
Conditioner only defines my hair as well, but it only lasts a few days.

La Bella "Lots of Curls" Gel for hold ($2), Great gel!
or
Sedal Rizos Obedientes anti friz cream ($4-$6)...it's like a leave in w/ hold.
...but the two don't mix so I can't use them together.
When I feel like splurging though I get the Kinky Curly system, theres nothing quite like it, esp because my hair luvs gel.
Oh & my type is dull, poofy 3c/4a lol.

Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie gives my hair great curl definition and also when I use EVOO with a twist out .. that tends to give my hair good definition as well.

I am not sure of my hair type, but, for stuff that I can get at the store..Eco Styler gel (for twist outs and wash and go's). My most expensive product that I love is Jane Carter's curl defining cream a little pricey, but it really works!
Re: What gives your hair a great curl definition?
Wow! Thanks you guys! You don't know how much this means and how much this helps towards deciding and experimenting on my hair. I have used gels such as the ECO Styler Gel with Olives but if I put too much on my hair will start to turn white and it is hard to get out unless I wash my whole head all over again but if I don't put much then my hair will not curl the way I want it to.
I have tried the shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie but the only reason I didn't like that was because my hair felt dry and dried up really fast right after but now I see that my hair dries fast regardless and not just because of the product. This product worked well when I first did my BC and I am thinking about purchasing it again. What would you guys suggest about the dryness? Should I apply the product and just add oils and shea butter or just oils because I know shea butter can give my hair a dull look as well.

I had the same problem....then I started doing pre-poo's with Vatika oil and henna treatments and that helped TREMENDOUSLY!

Just about any gel will define the back of my hair.
The front and sides on the other hand won't define for anything. They laugh in the face of all products. Only twistouts work on the front (KCCC and Knot Today seem to work the best) but still frizz up no matter what.

Donna Marie Miracurl Curling Gelly has been the best curl defining product I've tried - poppin' curls galore. It also provides me 10+ day hair. My favorite by far.
My lower priced alternative is La Bella "Lots of Curls" gel or La Bella Maximum Hold gel, awesome inexpensive gels for curl definition and for hold. Love 'em!

I got the best defined twist out from using Shea Moisture's Restorative Conditioner as a leave-in, then twisting with their Restorative Masque
I have never tried a wash&go though.

are you using a harsh shampoo with cones or sulfate? that could be one reason for the dryness.

Kinky Curly Curling Custard hands down. KCCC when used with the KC Knot Today really define my curls and give me the best wash n' gos. I don't really get into the hair typing thing but would guess I'm a 4a/4b.

Re: What gives your hair a great curl definition?
Hi, my hair is 4a/4b. Right now I am using KCCC. I really like this product because it defines my curls and control frizz. I didn't think controlling my frizz was possible. So I've found my go to product until my hair says differently. I was using Uncle Funky's Daughter Curly Magic.
