Hi Ladies!
I am transitioning form a Rihanna-esue bob since last year June.The back was shaved and the front like a bowl cut.So as you can imagine it's growing unevenly.So 2 nights ago I went to a stylist and he cut my hair very nicely for me.He straightened it and it was as if I had a relaxer.I went to work out the day after and POOF!!!!!!!!.....like I have done nothing....smh.I want to cry.I appreciate twist outs but every day isn't ideal for me,esp when my hair is growing out.I often feel uncomfortable.
I do not want to go back to flat ironing everyday,that's what turned me off about the short bob in the first place.I couldn't believe i had to do so much lol.I'm very low maintenance when it comes to hair.I do NOT want to have to think so hard,..sheesh!Any way I almost broke into tears this morning getting ready for work.It is just not working.
Any ideas on how to keep my hair straight once it's flat ironed?
And as for styling curly how to keep it that way as well?

I have only flat ironed a few times and it came out very nicely but just like you...I went to unwrap in the a.m. and it was a mess. I hear that some people pin curl the hair at night to keep it straight, or put rollers in at night so the hair doesnt revert. I havent tried it since my last attempt because it took me a very VERY long time to do and it didnt even last overnight...So I will be wacthing this thread also!!

I've had short permed hair before and had the workout disaster just as you did. So I feel you on that one. But to be honest. Depending on the length of your hair, working out and keeping it straight (without daily straightening) may not be an option for you. If you can decrease your sweat output it will help maintain the straightness.
As for other styles, you can try finger coils, flat twist in the front, headbands, and washNgo's. You can also do a twist out one day, then a washNgo the next. It will still look like a twist out but not have as much definition. Get on youtube and find quick easy styles that can be done at your length. Here is somewhere you can start:

@laleepop14..YES A HOT MESS COME THE AM...YEA IM GOING TO TRY PIN CURLS.I THINK IT'S BECAUSE MY HAIR IS THICK YET FINE..IT LOOKS LIKE VOLUMNE BUT ALL IT IS MY NATURAL HAIR RISING LOL.

@NhappyJackie I WILL DEFINITELY CHECK YOU TUBE OUT.YEA WORKING OUT AND MAINTAINING THIS IS GOING TO BE CHA-RUB-BULL(TROUBLE) Very Happy
