Re: Steamers, dryers?
Hi
I have a steamer and I use it every week to deep condition. I ordered mine from buyritebeauty and at the time the price was $269 (has a timer and 2 heat controls). I think that's about mid-range as far as cost. Pibbs also makes one that is a bit more expensive and also I've seen a tabletop one. I chose the one from buyrite because there was a container that the water drips into. You have to use distilled water because regular tap water will ruin the steamer eventually.
I love the steamer because it really allows the conditioner to penetrate and my hair is SOOO soft and manageable after each use. It also allows the moisture to get to your scalp & hair shaft. After your steam treatment your hair will feel extrememly heavy because of the moisture. I usually wait until my hair cools down a bit before I rinse the conditioner out. It's definitely worth the investment
This time of the year when the weather starts to change, I normally see a little dandruff, but I haven't seen the first sign of dandruff so far and I think that's because of my steam treatments. I bought my steamer back in the Spring and now I feel as if I can't live without it.
I also have a hair dryer that I purchased from Sally's during a sale. It was the dryer and chair for less than $300. I rod set my hair so this comes in handy for me as well. I no longer use it for conditioner just to dry my wet sets.
Seriously you can't go wrong with a steamer

I want a steamer...when you're finished with yours, can you mail it to me?
I've heard good things, but have yet to try it. I'm curious.

I also do facials once a month (steam 4x/month) along with my steam treatments using bentonite clay. The hood covers your whole head, so why not?! I come out looking like I've been at the spa all day! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Gym Sauna & Steam Rooms For Hair Regimen
Hey Ladies:
i do my hair regimen at the gym (usually a Saturday after a workout). The best deep conditioner you can get is washing/conditioning or cowashing and putting on a plastic cap while you relax in the sauna. After I do that, I go do my COLD WATER RINSE. Then I enter the steam and reopen my cuticles and put my oils (jojoba and coconut) in while I sit in the steam room. I oil and massage my scalp and seal my ends with oil!
I do this once a week. So if you have a gym with a sauna and or steam take advantage of such amenities and PLAN your hair regimen around your workout. This is my ME time day. Right now I'm unemployed so this gets done during the week, if I miss the weekend. Oh, I work out at my local YMCA. They provide towels and everything. I pay only $35 per month. So this is not some luxurious gym. I love it!

Re: Steamers, dryers?
You can see the results of what relaxers can do to edges. They are growing back, slowly but surely!
Also, I have the greatest shrinkage on Earth, which is why I showed the last shot so you can sort of the length after 3 months. I didn't really transition at all; I just chopped it off and said what the heck! It's hair...It'll grow back!
Also, for those ladies interested in henna treatments, you can see the "red" hairs from my 3 henna treatments over the last 3 months. I love henna! If I weren't so lazy, I'd do a treatment every week!

Hair Steamer
I have a Pibbs..and its sooo worth it..!!
benefits of STEAMING.........................
Benefits of Steam Treatments - ZERO TANGLES and NO POOF.
The benefits of steam conditioning are the following:
- the scalp is invigorated
- the water vapors open the outer layer of the hair shaft with moisture, allowing the conditioner to penetrate deeply into the cuticle layer.
- it promotes hair growth
- it is especially good for those with locs, natural hair, and color-treated hair
* Adds Luster
*Adds Shine
*Helps Seal in Moisture to help reduce breakage ( MANY ladies complain about ENDLESS Dryness on their Tresses)
*Helps seal in color to reduce color retardation
* Add Body
*Helps Smooth Cuticles
* Helps with Reversion on natural hair.... The cuticle is already swollen with moisture.
* Hair feels SILKY smooth - and "hangs" with weight.
DID I say - It promotes GROWTH?????

Re: Steamers, dryers?
Does the steam from the steamer come out as hot as the steam from clothes steamer?
I have an idea in mind but not quite sure if it will work just yet....

Re: Steamers, dryers?
Yes, it does. I wear my bathrobe while steaming and have a hand towel handy as well. The steam is CRAZY hot and comforting as well. I'm addicted to steaming hair every Friday evening!

That's all I needed to know....I am like the female MacGyver and things are about to get interesting

I have a steamer for clothes and a broken bonnet dryer. The hose from the steamer can attach to the hose on the bonnet......homemade steamer. The bonnet has two layers and tiny holes so its should allow too much steam through at once.
I'll follow up once I give it a shot.....my hubby is going to laugh hard at me.
Re: Steamers, dryers?
WOW! GENIUS! Reminds me of that Erykah Badu song..."...My dress ain't cost nothing but seven dollars, but I made it fly, and I'll tell you why, 'cause I'm clever..." LOL! You go, Tia! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] My hubs would laugh so hard if I came up with that, too! But you can't laugh too hard at genius, though, right?!
