Natural Hair Care Class Empty Natural Hair Care Class

Post by DvaAuNaturel 21st January 2011, 11:46 pm

Hey Curly Divas,

I found the most interesting advertisement for natrual hair care class in a local community newspaper in Maryland. The class is Natural Care for Black Hair and is offered at an herb shop. I thought it was intersting as I have not seen anything like that offered before. Have you? I might sign up just to see what it's about. I've shopped at the herb shop, Smile Herb, before and it's in a really cool part of town too.

Natural Care for Black Hair
Designed with Black women in mind, this workshop will discuss a variety of natural options for regular hair care and maintenance of all hair types: relaxed, pressed or natural. With the goal of creating a healthy hair environment, students will receive basic tips and remedies for issues like: dry scalp, hair loss due to stress, thickness and more. Students can also bring in the products they already use for feedback and will be able to sample suggested products with hands-on demonstrations.

Felicia Leatherwood.....think Jill Scott's stylist does similar workshops all over the country. Karen from Karen's Body Beautiful has started workshops at her store as well.

Felicia's website is www.lovingyourhairworkshop.com

I actually went to Felicia's workshop at Karen's store....well worth my money!

The woman that makes the My Honey Child Hair products offers classes in Raleigh. I think that the classes are a bit pricey though. She seems to gear it towards professionals moreso, but she also says on her website that it is for the general public. Here is her website:

I don't know but that's why I said I was going to check out the one in my area and report back. It's interesting that similar types of classes are being offered elsewhere. I wonder what the other clases that people have listed above taught; if there was anything new or that couldn't be found online. But just when you think you know it all there is always an opportunity to learn more or something different.

For some reason I find the idea embarrassing. :-\

I'd admit that such a thing is needed though, except the people who need informing the most probably aren't the ones who would ever consider it.

Anyway, like someone said, you can never learn too much! Smile

yea i know exactly what ur talkn about b/c this isn't the first time i've heard something about a natural hair care class b/c alot of these braiders in salons are messing up ppls hair and taking their hair out and they want them to have a license b/c they don't know the proper hair care and also there are other reasons why these classes are coming about and it is a good thing b/c everyone doing hair should have a license and especially getting butt loads of money that they do Wink

Hi Coilykinks,

It was mentioned during last week's meet up to have a "how to" meet up next time. When I ran across this thread, I remembered running into the following website:

http://www.naturalresourcessalon.com/classes.html

I do not know if this price is within the norm or how long the class lasts (for the price I would hope it is long than one day).
