moisture for my twa
ok ladies, so not even an hour ago, I DID THE BIG CHOP!! now, that i'm completely natural i was just wondering what kind of products are out their to help my TWA to retain it's moisture. I THOUGHT i was a 3c but boy did my TWA show me a thing or two lol, now i look like... a 4a lol... maybe 4b but i am SO HAPPY i did it!
Re: moisture for my twa
Congratulations on the BC!!!
When I had a TWA, I would cowash and deep condition often. I would use a leave in conditioner to moisturize and seal with oil. That's it. If you want to define your curls, you can add a little gel on top of the conditioner and oil.
Boy do I miss those days and the ease of a TWA!!! Enjoy this stage because it will be over before you know it.
Congratulations again.

Re: moisture for my twa
Congratulations! Expect your hair to be dry for a few days-a couple of weeks post BC. Most big-choppers experience this unfortunate phenomenon. Type "baggy method" or "baggy" in the CN search engine. The baggy is an excellent way to give your hair much-needed moisture. Keep a spritz bottle of water, oil, and your favorite leave-in on hand so you can add moisture to your hair when needed. Also deep condition your hair 1-2 times a week in your fresh BC days.
Also, I don't suggest "typing" your hair pattern/hair type so soon in the game. Once your hair finds the right balance of protein and moisture, then you will better learn what your hair truly needs. Also, post BC I thought I would be rocking a superfly fro, but two weeks later it started to coil, 2 months later it was small, half-curls, and now it's dramatically different from my first month post BC and it's still changing. I'm not saying that is going to happen to you; my point is that our hair can change as it grows from a short, dry cut to hair with length and moisture, so don't try to follow someone else's hair regimen because it looks like yours at this stage. Remember to find your elasticity and porosity first and foremost: http://www.livecurlylivefree.com/home.htm. After researching this site, a lot will become much clearer to you.

Re: moisture for my twa
Congrats! My BC was soooo dry! I was so frustrated, I went straight to kinky twists less than 24 hours in. My advice is the purest moisturizer...water. Find a good conditioner and an oil your hair likes. That's a great start. I keep a water bottle on deck and mist my hair to replenish moisture.
Re: moisture for my twa
I finally realized that I need moisture on a daily basis so I spray my hair with some water essential oil & evoo in a spray bottle I do this nightly & it appears to me that it has helped
Re: moisture for my twa
thanks ladies, i have found that if i co-wash deep condition and put a leave in under a baggy at night, it retains much moisture, when i went to work today i kept a spray bottle of some water evoo and sprayed frequently. i've been using wild hair growth oil and it's leaving it very soft, and i kinda like the smell lol
Re: moisture for my twa
Sorry I am late but CN members to the rescue! I love this forum for just this exact reason. You have all the right advice, good luck!
Re: moisture for my twa
maybe u should've done more research (b/c there's plenty of information on here) about moisturizing, styles, conditoners, etc.....good luck on finding what ur looking for~

Strawberri, that's what the forum is for--support and assistance. I can recall when you had created several threads when you had questions about products and techniques--including dryness. Heck, I didn't even know about the term transitioning, or about hair typing, balancing protein and moisture, pre-pooing, co-washing, acv rinses and all that jazz until after I bc'ed---thank goodness!!! (Although I wish that I knew about protein/moisture). It's too much to process sometimes. I received a wonderful amount of information on CN that helped me post-bc. Also, the OP's last post confirmed that we DID help her. I'll help you the best that I can if you have questions, too.

Re: moisture for my twa
That's not what I was getting at. She asked a question post BC and your first point of advice to her is "maybe you should of done more research". The cut was over and done with so that didn't matter. What if the poor girl was very upset at how her hair looked. Can you understand how suggesting that she should've done more research can appear? Maybe you're right, but most people experience dryness post-BC anyway, so even with some preparation those freshly clipped ends can be dry as desert heat. I'm glad the OP asked a question because her inquiry is a component of research.
Btw, I am confused about me directing you to an irrelevant post. You made a post about creating a "wet look" and I directed you to a post with the exact subject in another section. I think that's indicative of relevance. Still, no harm no foul. We just have different methods of administering advice.

Re: moisture for my twa
Ok so since I couldn't figure out what the heck I had made my password! .... It's been like almost a month since I big chopped and I am loving my hair! I have mastered the coils. Not a big fan on the two strand twist yet but I believe with time and length I'll grow to like it. I have some pictures of small styles I have tried and I havent yet done my length check. But I do have hands in head syndrome lol I just love these curls they r very coily and tight. So cute lol
Re: moisture for my twa
@Gotcurls - Congrats on your bc! Glad you've found what is working for you. In the beginning I too wasn't a fan of two strand twists but as you stated with length I have grown to love them!
Re: moisture for my twa
Good for you, Gotcurls!!!!! I tried the two-strand twists on my twa a few months ago and there were too many gaps. I did it again on Jan 1 and they were sooo much fuller because I had more hair. There is a lot you can do with short hair. I'm actually dreading the length because I know Ill have to work a little harder, lol.
Krazy Coils, your hair is so thick and beautiful!
