Good question....if it's like some other oils, it may start to smell almost rancid or stale. But if it smells the same way as it did fresh than maybe it's ok.....??? I'm just throwing out ideas, I dunno for sure.

@misskris - im gonna need you to stop scraping mold off cheese.... lmao. (you made bust out laughing at my desk girl)

@ Cia - I found this for ya on www.africansheabutter.org, dont know if its true but this is what it says...

"How do I store Shea Butter?
Shea Butter does not need to be refrigerated. However, over a period of two or three years, the Shea Butter will begin to lose some of its effectiveness. As the natural ingredients begin to break down, some of the healing benefits will be reduced, but the Shea Butter will continue to be an effective moisturizer. Store Shea Butter is a cool (not necessarily cold) place. If you're going to use it within a couple of years, you should have no problems. "

HTH...

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol! lol! lol! What!!!!??? Y'all never did that??? I ALWAYS do that!!!! Cheese ain't cheap and it is honestly perfectly fine underneath. I've never gotten sick form that and I have ALWAYS done it!!! It's only the outer surface that has the mold cuz of the air. Stop acting like y'all never do that!!!! LOL
Oh, but I NEVER use that cheese when I make mac an cheese. It's usually the shredded cheese in the bag for the mac. In fact for the holidays (so off topic!! LOL) I make G. Garvin's 5 Cheese Mac n Cheese!!! OMG so good but SO high in fat and calories!!!

Cheese depends on mold. I just scrape it off too. But like misskris I buy new cheese for company cooking. But if I'm just making a grilled cheese or scrambled eggs (haven't made either one in months) I just scrape the mold off.

I don't like american cheese or those plastic cheese slices. My nephews would only eat the slices. Those things don't grow mold, they just slowly turn into hard plastic pieces.

Blue cheese IS mostly mold. hehe Very Happy Smile
