I Want to be Blue-Black!!! Empty I Want to be Blue-Black!!!

Post by Sanele Curlicue Vox 23rd December 2010, 10:53 pm

Good evening ladies,

for the holidays I want to dye my hair black...blue black. My natural hair color is a dark brown that lights up under the sun. But I want to do things a little differently now. I cassia every month (although I've been slipping for the past two months Sad ) I'm not a fan of the red tint that henna gives off and have only used cassia. In order to go blue-black, can I use cassia then indigo or do I have to use henna first then indigo? Please help!

btw my hair texture is 3c/4a with a lil bit of 2c...

This lady had dark brown hair and she used henna and indigo to get blue black.

Blue Black Henna/Indigo

I think the henna is a good base for the indigo. You can't see any hint of henna on her hair after the indigo treatment.

Hi Sanele

I just wanted to mention. Henna and Indigo are not like regular hair dyes. Once you indigo, you can't bleach it out to go lighter. Honey treatments might lighten henna but it doesn't bleach well.
Trying to bleach indigo hair will net you some ugly green hair. From what I've read on the net, its not even a cool I did this on purpose green. It also does not wear out.
Sorry if you knew this already, I just wanted to let you know. If you do it, please post the results. My mom had blue-black hair naturally and it was beautiful. Even when she got a few grays.

I've never colored my hair before--period. I've heard that after using henna then indigo, some people's hair have come out a dark brown. I wonder if it's safe to just use cassia then indigo...or would that give me blue hair...

I cant wait to hear the results! I died my hair blue/black for years using chemical dyes. I stopped last year and my hair of course has grown out since then. I henna so my hair is still black on the bottom half and reddish/dark brown at the top, LOL. I may henna and indigo soon to make my hair even...

I've never used Cassia then indigo but I do Henna then Indigo and my hair comes out jet black. Some say that if you do a 50/50 mix of henna/indigo, that will make a dark brown color, but with a full henna application then a full indigo application, it yields jet black.

Ladies,

I bought Light Mountain's Black Henna (don't be alarmed, it was an indigo/henna mix that was still green, no PPH) and it only turned my dark brown hair to a dark ash brown. smdh. Neutral I'ma gonna have to find an indian grocery store in chicago and get the indigo myself. I wanted to have the new color for NYE...that's why i didnt order it online. We shall see...
