Calling all curlies/transitioners!
So im going on my 3rd month of transitioning. Im really starting to get the hang of things. But im starting to build up my product artilary and im just wondering what are some products you MUST HAVE especially for winter. Right now I feel like im just grabbing anything and everything that might be of use and thats not ok with me...I need STAPLES. the things that you got to on a regular basis that give you the look and confidence you love! Help me out Curlies?!? Im cureently just wearing a wrap for the remainder of the winter...what are good moisturisers..ad also what are good curl products for when spring time hits. Plus I think its awesome just to swap beauty tips anyway...so whether you are transitioning like me or a long time curly I want to know your secrets!
Re: Calling all curlies/transitioners!
i would like to know the responses to this one as well!! I am about a week or so shy of one yr transitioning and I still don't know exactly what works for me lol.
I have found that:
- my hair loves olive oil (mutli purpose product yay)
- doing deep conditions on dry hair seems to work better for me (esp the Aubrey Organics White Camilia)
- trims are evil but extremely helpful during the transition stage...i think that is the sole reason i have made it this far; by gradually trimming

It might seem ridiculously easy, but you can take the Hair Liberty Hair ID quiz to find the staple products that are right for your hair....
http://www.hairliberty.org/black-hair-care/hair-id/
Since your hair is still mostly relaxed, choose "Relaxed" at question 2. Relaxed hair is more demanding than natural curls, so you need shampoos and conditioners that will keep your ends from breaking while also keeping your new growth soft and manageable.
To answer your question about moisturizers, that's the only area where I often prefer homemade over store bought. Pure aloe vera juice makes a perfect spritz alone and you can also add a few drops of rosemary or lavender essential oil. Use that a few times a day and seal with castor oil or shea butter...unbeatable combo for natural hair. HTH!

I would say Kinky Curly Knot Today is the best leave in, it's really a must have!! I've found out that the simplest routine is usually the best.

I love me some Cantu leave in and Aphogee leave in (the spray)!! My hair responds very well to these things plus water!! I would definitely say my satin scare and beanie too, lol. I gotta protect from the cold! Btw, I've been transitioning for about 3 months too!

Re: Calling all curlies/transitioners!
So question for Ambitious_Tiff...How do you like spray conditioners verses just regular bottles and jars? I feel like maybe the prays wont reach all of the hair and just get on some of it...idk I've never tried it..

@ Ambitious Tiff-
Why didn't y'all tell me about CANTU????
I ran out of my stash of Qhemet while visiting fam
and had to find a subby.
Cantu is very NICE!!!

Re: Calling all curlies/transitioners!
I switched from Knot Today to Cuntu Leave In. It's just as good but better because of the price and being able to get it at Target, WalMart and beauty supply stores.
My other must have is Eco Styler. The green one with Olive Oil
