Re: Calling all Knitters!
I enjoy knitting, however, I dread weaving in those yarn ends. So, when I am joining a new color or a new skein of yarn, I weave in the yarn ends as I knit.
Here is a pictorial I found:
http://sockpr0n.blogspot.com/2006/10/how-to-weave-in-ends-while-knitting.html
You can also start off knitting both the old and new skein of yarn for a few stitches or use a "Russian Join."
Happy Knitting!

Re: Calling all Knitters!
Currently, I only have one project on my needles...a scarf for my mom for Mother's Day. http://www.colinette.com/products/Arboretum.html
Below are a few photos of projects I've complete.
Texting Mittens and a throw for my daughter, and a cardigan and hat for a friend's new baby.

Re: Calling all Knitters!
cool!! I am working on knitting some flowers and headbands for me and my daughter. I hate the ends also because i tend to over to the weaving I don't want it to unravel. I would reall love to learn the cable stitch and how to follow patterns. all i can do is knit and purl. but i am finding some patterns for that. but i can't wait until i get advanced. Love those texting mittens.

The cable stitch seems difficult, but it's really easy. You might want to begin using a cable needle. Once you feel comfortable knitting the cable stitch, you can knit them without the cable needle.
Reading patterns can be a little tricky. It's best to begin with an easy pattern. Read the entire pattern, make notes or highlight unfamiliar terms, and google or post your questions to a knitting forum.

This is a really good forum. Once you become a member, you can post your knitting questions.

Re: Calling all Knitters!
oooo I want to knit as well as I crochet but I am not there yet and I get frustrated easily with knitting for some reason
Re: Calling all Knitters!
Below are a few good how-to videos. Let me know if I can help. I crochet as well, but I prefer knitting.

Re: Calling all Knitters!
I am very, very amateur and can only knit squares (pot holders) or rectangles (scarves). I seem to have problems with tension; either several rows are too loose or too tight. Haven't been able to get this right. It's a fun hobby though

It's time for you to branch out and try more challenging patterns. Also, the more you knit, the better your tension...practice, practice. Maybe using a different needle would help to maintain an even tension. I usually knit on Addi circulars, which took some time getting used to. However, I also use wood, depending on the type of yarn I'm using.

Re: Calling all Knitters!
Pinkpearls,
Great thread! My grandmother taught me to knit when I was 9 but to date my least favorite part of knitting is also weaving in the ends - thank you for the tips!!!
I love small, quick, yet impressive projects that I can pull out on the bus or while waiting, so I end up doing a lot of baby things, socks and hats. I'm about to start work on a baby blanket for a close friend and soon-to-be first-time mama. Using my own selection of fairy fluff/floss yarns in sea blues, violets, and deep red with this pattern to match the nursery: http://www.purlbee.com/the-purl-bee/2010/5/23/anzula-squishy-log-cabin-baby-blanket.html
My tip: free pattern sources. I love collecting how-to books, but
knitting pattern books always seem expensive for some great and lots of
bad patterns. I love to find free patterns at ravelry.com (posted by
users, so it is kind of a collection of links to hundreds of free
pattern sites) and knitty.com.

Re: Calling all Knitters!
I haven't knitted in a year!! But I loved it! I don't really know that I have any tips to offer because I have only knitted simple stuff or intermediate stuff only from patterns. But I really love the craft. My stash is still huge!
