I've been using Jamila henna for several months now and I have noticed that the dye starts to release within 15-20 minutes of mixing the henna. I mixed henna around 9:30 this morning and put it on at 10. I noticed at 1 that my grays were already copper. Are there any additional benefits to letting it sit or stay on longer?

I think the longer you leave it in the more conditioning your hair is going to get.
