< Defining Curls >
Well I am a transitioner who has been transitioning for 11 months (will be a year on 8/1/10) and I will be BCing very soon since I don't have a lot of relaxed ends left on my hair. I need TIPS on defining my curls better. The entire back of my head is natural now and I use Eco Styler Gel on it. I don't too much like using gel on my hair very often because it makes my hair hard, but I still love EcoStyler Gel. Do you guys have any tips/products that you use to define the curls much better??

Have you tried the Ecostyler Olive Oil gel???? I used this for the first time yesterday and it didn't make my hair hard at all...but I did put some oil on my hair first before I applied the gel and it came out soft with great curl definition...HTH!
P.S. Congrats on transitioning for 11 months!!!

Find a great moisturizer. HE HH and BHMM work great. As far as technique, I love the accordion method. MahoghanyCurls has a YT video on it. Many ladies have had great results doing the technique. Using gel for hold may help. If you don't want crunchy hair, adding oil before or after will soften your hair while giving you hold.

i just watched mahogany curls video on the accordion method. Her hair is very pretty. But will that work on 4b,4c hair? have any of you 4b,4c girls tried this? if so send pictrures.

I haven't tried the accordion method, but I have tried the smoothing technique. I noticed when I shingle, then shrinkage is at its BEST and I have TWA hair when it's much longer ... ya'll know what I mean.
But when I smooth product in the sections without shingling, it still distributes and kinda stretches it. I still have shrinkage but not as bad.
An example is Kimmaytube's video on how she shampoos.
