Post by earynnm 15th July 2010, 12:48 am

Ok so whenever i do a twist and curl my hair always comes out looking like a boofy blow out. What products do you guys use to make your results more defined. Also what do you do to get it to last longer? btw im 15 and my mom makes me buy all my hair care products. All help is greatly appreciated!

Earynnm, I think Nikki has a tutorial on the site for the TnC - I would check her videos first. For any products that are really expensive that she may use, there's always a cheaper alternative that will give you a similiar result.

Good luck! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I leave in my conditioner (right now I'm using HH Totally Twisted) and twist using my shea butter/coconut oil mix and olive oil. I also add a little bit of gel for more hold.

I twist soaking wet hair that has been drenched in condish (among my other hair concoctions). I also leave the twist in for at least 4 to 5 days before rocking the Twistout.

I tend to achieve my best TnC when my hair is rolled on dry hair. I've tried doing it on wet/damp hair, and it came out terrible.

TnC results done on dry hair:

Well I don't do a twist-n-curl, but for my summer twists/twist-outs, I've been using a concoction of Garnier Fructis Sleek-n-Shine Fortifying Conditioner mixed with Coconut Oil and water. On the parts I just guessed and then mixed all real well in my spray bottle. It was a warm day so the coconut oil was liquified and easy to pour into the bottle. I sprayed onto freshly shampooed hair using Giovanni 50:50 followed up with HE Hydralicious and then Giovanni 50:50 Direct Weightless Leave-in Conditioner. My Twists are shiny and keep well as long as I sleep with a silk scarf. The twist-out was shiny defined and soft....no tacky conditioner feeling and hair had great movement. I did smooth very lightly straight coconut oil on just after un-twisting, but that was it. Today is twist-out day 2 and tonight will probably re-spray with concoction and re-twist. I do medium sized twists all over expect a little smaller (but not drastically so) at the crown and nape.
