No, thank you. I do not desire to have my hair flat ironed!
I went to the mall Saturday (first mistake) because supposedly there
was a bss that sold aveda products, needless to say, I did not find the
store, but.....LOL what I encountered!I am rocking a wash n go,
and catching all kinds of looks. I am strutting with my PROUD, BLACK,
CURLY self when one of the marketing people ask me if I want to do a
survey on make up. I smiled and said "No, I don't wear makeup." All
the while I am in the mall, I am noticing not many natural sistas,
hmmm, okay. I am approaching this kiosk where a caucasian woman is peddling
electric flat irons. I have a smirk on my face like "boy, I don't want
another one of those in my head." Well, when I get parallel with the
kiosk, the woman asks me would I like to try her irons. I smiled my
biggest smile as the pride oozed outta my pores and my confident aura
caused her to feel embarrassed as I said laughingly, "No, thanks, I love
my napps!"Did she think that because I had my [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] that I
needed to try to straighten it? Why not start a casual conversation to
find out if I am even interested in straightening my hair? Or how about a
sales diversity class that teaches you to adapt to the demographics and
approach potential consumers in a less assumptive manner?
Or was
it just me? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I think it might have just been you. They're told to ask EVERYONE. My DH was due for a haircut and they asked him!
The only folks I've seen them not ask are folks with dreads, braids, and no hair.

They do that in every mall so don't take it personally. I had my hair in cornrows and was asked if I wanted to try the flat iron. I looked at that lady like she had three eyes. Now when I walk by I automatically shake my head. No thank you flat iron lady.

yeah, they ask everyone. they even asked my friend who had her relaxed. My thing is why in the world would I let a random stranger straighten one part of my hair only to leave the rest curly/nappy?
