I am 11 months post relaxer and decided to try my first Twist and curl. Can you say disaster!? I washed with Bee Mine shampoo and conditioner, then detangled with KC Knot today. I let it air dry a little and then put on Bee Mine hair milk and followed up with the curly butter. I sealed with the oil moisturizer and put it 5 twists on each side. When I woke up my hair was a little hard and the ends were crunchy and dry. Needless to say I was disapointed because you ladies have such beautiful results! What did I do wrong? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Also, how do you maintain it at night?

You may need smaller twists. It took about a year for my hair to act right with being twisted (or maybe I found the right products). I put a hair sack on my twists every night after I moisturize them with coconut oil or whatever oil I have in rotation a the time. I keep between 24 and 28 twists in. Hang in there, it will work!

They are loose because I was attempting a chunky twist and curl.Do you do that many when you do those also?

Maybe you used too many products or to much of a particular product. what i learned with a twist n curl is that sometimes less is more (regarding product) or if you did it on slightly damp hair or sopping wet hair or dry hair. make a few adjustments and see if that helps.

My hair acts a fool with big twists. I do not know why. It seems like my hair strands like individual attention and they get that best by little twists. I also leave my twists in for at least 3 days if I am going to do a twist out. After that, I can do chunky twists to maintain the waviness until I wash it.
