Re: Hi! I'm Pwatem
I would love to visit Rome one day! I bet those statues are breath taking in person
Re: Hi! I'm Pwatem
@mstokes2008 : Thanks! I was so surprised! The detail is amazing and the hairstyle is so cute! I'm mad I didn't take a picture of the bun in the back too.
@Lynnieluve : you know!
@tiashauntee & @sweetdrk1 : you should go!! It's ALOT of walking and exhausting, but the sheer wonder of how much talent those people had and how long their work lasts is amazing. There is SOOO much of it. They even had an Egyptian part of the museums where they had coffins, a part of the Book or Death, busts, statues etc.
I was there for a week and didn't even see half of the 'must see' sites. I wish I lived there

I went with my mom to Rome to visit my sister over spring break (10th - 18th) and I have so many pics I want to add, but that will take a while and I don't have that long, so I will add the ones that struck me the most:
My mother and I just could not get over her hair!
I took these in one of the museums in the Vatican.
That's it for now. I'm swamped at school. Yes, I have been reduced to super-studying on a Friday night
Not much I can do about it though. Gotta get them "A"s
LOL! Looks like flat twists
Re: Hi! I'm Pwatem
My first braid out in a while! Like almost a month, I can't wait to see how it turns out, because my hair has grown a lot lately.
This weekend is my 10 month transitioning anniversary. I treated Dollee Quorra early by indulging my PJ. I bought Suave Sleek and Humectant for co-washing and hennaing, HEHH (I mixed the remains of my HETT and HEHH and that lasted a day or 2 at the most haha!), a new bonnet, and more Cantu Leave-in conditioner.
I have been mistreating her lately by just blow drying and french twist braiding her for almost a month. I think I'm gonna try and stay away from heat, except for DCing, for a while. I want to BC SOOOOOO badly sometimes, but I wanted to make it to 12 months of transitioning, and I at least want to wait until summer. At least 3 of my friends have gone natural recently, so that is encouraging!
Re: Hi! I'm Pwatem
Whoa growth!!! Looks like you have a relatively easy transition on your hands ... I can't tell where one texture starts and the other ends!! Awesome!

Re: Hi! I'm Pwatem
@jcanalena79: thanks! it's all due to this AMAZING forum and all the help i've gotten from the EXTRAORDINARY curlies on the site, like yourself. I was clueless and my hair was a mess when I started.
Re: Hi! I'm Pwatem
My hair turned out alot better than I thought it would when I first took it out. I thought it would be limp and lumpy because I only did 5-6 braids, but I think the humidity kept it alive. I think it should last 3-4 days, which I don't mind because I need to stop being lazy and actually do my B-n-C right next time.
Morning:
Night:
I used a mix of Suave Sleek and Humectant (can't wait to try the new Almond & Shea butter cond.) to co-wash and condition, and I love the results, to top it off they both are mad cheap so that's even better.

Hey lady, I am glad you enjoyed your trip. I would love to travel to Rome one day.
Your transition process is still holding up well. Keep up the good work

Re: Hi! I'm Pwatem
I re-did my b-n-c yesterday (no pictures ) with 7 braids and it turned out better. I was too lazy to get under the dryer for an hour or so, so it was wet and is uneven. But it looks nice pulled back so it should last until Thursday.
I changed up the products I use for setting to see if Quorra would shine and hold the curl better, and she did.
I usually use:
- Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in
- Fantasia IC Gel
- EVCO
and I added:
- Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum
- Organic Aloe Vera Gelly
- Marula Oil
worked wonders!!! I love it!!!

I actually don't know. I take the days with Dollee Quorra as they come. I wanted to do at least 12 months at first (I am at 10 now) but now I really just want to get it over with some days.
I am just skeptical about how I will react, my friends and fam will react, and if I will be able to deal with it. As of now I don't think I would be able to pull back the new growth, and that's mainly what I do on bad hair days.
Re: Hi! I'm Pwatem
I was inspired by some other posts on this forum to try and pin Quorra up.
Every time I get an idea of what to do I am FAR away from pins and a mirror. I was procrastinating earlier, and this has been the best pin-up so far (ha! shows my amazing pinning skills *insert sarcasm here*)
Next I want to try an up-do with twists or braids or something.

Re: Hi! I'm Pwatem
I found that my dream mix (listed above) does not hold after 2-3, so I'm back to the drawing board. I think I might try and find some light gels, sprays, or pomades. IDK.
I'm glad Quorra at least looks good in a pony-tail (relaxed ends not limp) so I think my ex-dream mix is good for protective styling.
I have heard good things about the HE Long-term Relationship line, so I'll try that next.

Re: Hi! I'm Pwatem
I've been using HE LTR for a few weeks now. I love the smell and so far I like it. Since I wasn't sure about the purchase so I bought the small one. When I run out I will replace it with the larger bottle and alternate between HE HH and HE LTR.
I want to try totally twisted one day in the future.

Is it a good detangler? I love HE HH & TT !!(my favorite detanglers evr!). I also want to try the leave-in slit end protector.
Re: Hi! I'm Pwatem
I just used it as a detangler tonight and it worked great! And I just love the smell
Re: Hi! I'm Pwatem
@tiashauntee HE knows how to make their products smell GOOD. If only they knew how to make their shampoos without sulfates....

Re: Hi! I'm Pwatem
I spent so much time trying to perfect my b-n-c this weekend, and it came out beautiful today and then on my way back home from class it rained. Making my hair soaking weak, and basically all the curls fell out And then about 2 minutes after I get inside and start drying off I look outside and it's sunny and dry!!!!
So since Quorra is clean, I'm going to dampen and redo the set to the best of my abilities with barely semi-wet hair.

Re: Hi! I'm Pwatem
I did the re-set and it worked wonders!!
Quorra's a little more dull, because the braids were makeshift, but overall I like how she turned out. I will be doing this from now on to busted and dry hairdos. The curls turned out WAY better at the ends than I thought they would.
I just feel silly and happy for once in a long time.
I tried out for Glee with the online auditions, but the video with me singing didn't work ( I don't think) so I'm going to try and send it in again when they have an "audition encore". I pray frequently that God will allow me this opportunity, because I want it SOOOO very badly. And I have been so anxious to whether or not I should try and send in another vid of me singing, but I just hope that God will lead me in the right direction. Because If I do make it, I will have to basically drop out of school for a little while, at least until I can transfer or have time. That would be a BIG decision, that I am fully willing to make. I just have to hope and trust God, and try my hardest not to worry, because worry is useless. It's in God's hands!
Oh gawsh I'm tangenting/ranting......
Prayers needed!!
