You know you don't miss your relaxer when you pass your one year anniversary since your last relaxer and YOU DON'T NOTICE! I have been enjoying learning about my hair so much it went right by! At first all I could do was count the days since my last one but since my big chop (3/20/2010), I count the weeks since I went completely natural.

My last relaxer was on June 10, 2009! I just realized it today that it has been a year~! My hair is closing in on 5 inches so that means I haven't had to cut that much of my natural hair (i don't count the relaxed hair) during the year. In fact, I had about an inch of natural hair cut off at the bc and another at the end of April - so my hair has grown over 6 inches a year!

I don't even know the exact date of my last relaxer. It was in May or June of 08, I'm not exactly sure.

I remember mine only because it was Jan 1st and I had just gotten out of the hospital. If it wasn't for that I probably wouldn't remember either.

I know I don't miss my relaxer when I see other females with permed hair and it still looks a mess. Hearing them talk about the bad stories about having to get their hair done. I love waking up, shaking my hair and just going on with my day. I'm a proud Napp! hehe! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

My friend tells me she spent six hours at the salon! I so don't miss those days of my whole weekend at the salon!

You remember how much it burned and burned WORSE if you scratched!

You constantly get complimented on your hair...cause it doesn't look like everyone elses.

You know you don't miss your relaxer when you do your hair and don't have to alter your sleep position to keep the style.

You have nightmares that you got your hair relaxed and you wake up and run to the mirror just to make sure.

I have fallen in love with my curls and it hasn't even been that long. I don't see me ever going back there again; I mean there is completely no reason too. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

When you go to the water park and you do not cringe at the though of messing up that newly permed/flat-ironed hair. BRING IN ON WATER!

It also feel good to go out in high humidity and rain without the hair reverting. FREEDOM!

I have had a lot less dandruff since my last relaxer. It's probably also because I stopped "greasing my scalp" with that MESS, Johnson Products Ultrasheen.

I know I don't miss my relaxer because I'm no longer going into itching fits and I don't have to plan my getaway from the rain anymore.

Ok I have a few

You know you don't miss your relaxer when you:

- hear relaxed friends talk about there scabs (lol)
-your monthly budget doesn't include bi weekly salon visits
-can look like Tracy Ellis Ross, Angela Davis and Tyra in the same week (versatility gotta love it)

Don't miss the relaxer when your wallet is a lot heftier than before. I can now spend the $$ on clothes/vacations/etc.

You know you dont miss your relaxer when you dont want to cover your natural kinks and curls for "special" occasions.
natural hair makes more of a statement than bone straight hair any day.

Yup - you know you don't miss your relaxer when your hair is ALWAYS done. It looks great all the time, not just the first week after a perm.

you pass someone that is relaxed and you can see their scalp. Now I've always had super thick hair so I never had the problem but I hate seeing people with unhealthy hair. When the ends are all jagged I just want to grab some scissors. Thank God I decided to go natural so that I can be a living testimony to them. I can't remember the exact date of my last relaxer, either. Mine was either in March or April of '08. The date of my BC? Now THAT I remember, LOL!

I definitely don't miss the burns, scabs nor running from the rain.

I was cleaning the bathtub recently and accidentally turned on the shower...in my 'creamy crack' days, I would have been livid! In my new naturally wondrous state, I just shook my curls and kept going.

I love it!!

When you use it to clean all the gunk off your flat irons. It really works! LoL

... you have more cash every pay check because it's not spent on touchups and washing.
... no more dandruff and patting ...
... and lastly, when it's a cloudy day it's okay to forget or just NOT bring an umbrella.

...you can't remember when your BC was. I think it was about 2 years ago...some time in February 2008. I went to the salon for a touch-up on my relaxer and told her when I was sitting in the chair 'You know what? Just take it all off.'

She was like and told me that I had to make the first cut. So I gathered my hair up and took a pair of scissors and just hacked off a huge chunk of relaxed nonsense. Then I made her clipper the rest off.

Ah yes, I had to look at Facebook to get the date. Feb 9 2008. I've had some ups and downs, and am currently dealing with damage caused by me not knowing what the hell to do with my hair, but I don't miss straight hair EVER.
