Knee Problems? Empty Knee Problems?

Post by tiashaunteé 3rd June 2010, 2:14 pm

Anyone out there suffering with knee problems after starting to work out?
Before I spend $$$, that needs to be used elsewhere, on a specialist. I am seeking some times and advice.
My knees have a dull ache and will swell if I do too much walking (like for hours). I have to keep them bent to sleep and my right knee feels like crap after sitting in stop n go traffic for an hour.

I am thinking I may need new workout shoes...but I am just not sure.

Anyone confused

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] My knees are soooooo messed up!!! My left one was injured a long time ago and I pretty much know there's nothing I can do about that, but my right knee really got messed up a few months ago. I was going downstairs and it popped/cracked so hard I could hardly walk. Eventually the pain faded but I could still always feel it as I went up and down the stairs. Well, I started P90X and the pain is in full force. I really need to stop playing around and make a doctor appointment. I refuse to stop P90X after I spent so much money though. Tia,

When I walked a lot (soon to get that in present tense)...my knee bothered me too. I used an Ace bandage, the sleeve kind, for the knee. It "holds" the knee in place, I guess you can say, it helped me keep walking. It may help keep your swelling down. You can find them in a drug store and they come in various sizes.

But look into changing your shoes, too. If you can find a store specifically for running & walking (not cuteness--hahaha), they'll video you walking and try to find the shoe that fits your stride, issues, etc.

I suffer from patella femoral sublexation=my kneecaps are out of place. It has inhibited me from regularly attending my Zumba class and now I go to physical therapy at least once a week. This condition has made it difficult to use stairs but I use them anyone for the exercise. I would definitely consult with an orthopedist so he/she can give you a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.
