Re: FINALLY !
i did trim some but not around the edges because they were already shorter than the rest...i didnt trim b/c of "scab hair". UMMMMMMM GIRL DONT USE THAT!!! it sounds like a good heat protectant (for blow-drying/flat-ironing) with all those cones lol but its not for def not for moisture (it doesnt even have water in it lol), and idk if u co-wash or use a sulfate-free shampoo but those cones can build up and u wont be able to get them out w/out a clarifying shampoo...for moisture i cowash atleast 2 or 3 times a week, sometimes everyday and as a leave in i use to use giovanni direct leave in...i love it but i ran out n havent bought anymore yet. i also have cantu shea butter leave in. i like it but it can leave residue sometimes after a while. lately as a leave in i've just been leaving in a little of my co-wash conditioner ( herbal essences totally twisted and aussie moist are 2 of my faves) and i seal with an oil...to refresh my hair i usually spritz w/ a water/conditioner mix and sometimes i might add oils and aloe vera gel to to that mix too. for extra over night moisture i sometimes baggy (moisturize/seal and cover with a plastic cap/bag under a satin bonnet or scarf).

Re: FINALLY !
Oh dang! Thanks for telling me! I heard people talk about not using silicones, but I didn't know they meant all cones lol (you can definitely tell I'm a newbie to this) But I'm almost out of my VO5 conditioner, so I think I'll try the aussie next. And I'm going to try that overnight baggy routine!

Re: FINALLY !
lol some cones are water soluble so they will come out with just a co-wash, but i dont think those apply lol. plus they're very high in the list. some cones arent that bad if they are water-soluble and not within the 1st 5 ingredients. when i first started transitioning i had like 4 bottles of VO5...my fave was the kiwi-lime (i think i just know it was green and smelled good lol) clarifying conditioner...i hated the Free Me Freesia, only b/c the smell was to flowery and it was annoying...but yeah try aussie moist or either herbal essences hello hydration or totally twisted...and give the baggy method a try, when u wake up ur hair will be all soft and moisturized lol...if i baggy every night i can stretch a wash n go for like 4 days, but now that its getting hot im starting to co-wash more often, but i still baggy most nights just for extra moisture...the more moisturized ur hair is, the more your curls will pop...and idk if u use gel for curl definition but my fave is elasta qp feels like silk liquid gel...u only need a lil bit and it makes ur curls pop and doesnt dry crunchy at all

Re: FINALLY !
Yeah my mom brought the free me fresia home one day and I decided to try it, I just like the way it makes my hair feel. But since my cut yesterday my edges have been so dry and since I co-washed with it, I haven't seen much change in the moisture. I've been having to spritz water on it all day constantly.. I like your idea of adding conditioner and aloe vera gel to a bottle of water, I'll have to try that. I'm just so desperate to get my edges looking like the rest of my hair- soft, curly and cute! lol thanks again girl!

Re: FINALLY !
If you're ever unsure about ingredients Teri has a great dictionary on all the ingredient terms in hair products: http://tightlycurly.com/ingredients/ and Tia gave a good list on the "undercover" names of mineral oil: http://tiashauntee.blogspot.com/2010/05/undercover-mineral-oil.html
