Does anyone know if there are concequences to getting highlights AFTER a henna treatment. I henna'ed about 2 weeks ago but have decided I want to get a few highlights. Wondering about any damage that may occur.

It may be possible to strip the henna from your hair, but I wouldn't simply because of the damage it would cause.

The reddish tint that you get from the henna is the lawsome molecule that has bonded with your hair. The lawsome basically fills in the gaps and ridges in your hair shaft which makes your hair shinier and silkier. Now, if you get highlights more than likely it won't take because the henna is just that permanent. Hot oil treatments and peroxide bleaching can strip the lawsome molecule from your hair but remember that when you strip the hair of the color, you also strip away the softness and shininess that the henna provided and cause significant damage to your hair. I don't know if anyone's hair can survive a strip and highlights without turning brittle and splitting.

i colored my hair red about 3 weeks prior to my first treatment and it did not damage the hair. i believe that once you henna it applys a coating to your hair that prevents hair dye from attaching to your hair.

you should look at hennaforhair.com website!
