Twistout Problems
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Whenever I do a twistout I end up looking like Sideshow Bob from the Simpsons and I also have these stray hairs and little balls falling off the ends. What am I doing wrong?

What products do you use to do your two strand twist?

I mostly use Organic Root Stimulator Lock and Twist Gel. I've also used Miss Jessie's Curly Meringue, Carol's Daughter Kizzie pomade. Lately I've used Devacurl.

Re: Twistout Problems
I understand what you mean by the sideshow bob look, i get that alot of times when i do my twistout puffs LOL...it may have something do with how your hair grows or its thickness in the middle, or it may just be how you twist your hair. Have you tried doing flat twists or do you just do two strand twists?

Hi Valentine Girl,
Maybe you are making your twists too small. Whenever I use Devacurl, my twists come out too soft, so they puff up. I can't use Devacurl if I want a defined twist-out. I've never used ORS Loc and Twist Gel, but I have used Ms. Jessie's. Do you get under the dryer when you twist it? I notice that whenever I get under the dryer, my twists come out more crisp and defined.
The first thing I would try is making smaller twists.

@ Valentine Girl
When you take your twists out do you have some sort of oil on your hands?
Before I remove my twists I lightly coat my hands with olive oil. Doing so reduces frizz and gives the hair a slight sheen.
This may help with the Sideshow Bob look. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
