HELP! Protein Sensitive- possibility?
Hey Guys,
I recently changed up my routine from just washing and conditioning to actually using different products, twist and curls etc.
Recently, I've been finding that I can't detangle my hair, which has never been a problem. I use to use HE Totally Twisted Shampoo and Conditioner and switched in January to Suave Daily Clarifying Shampoo and Garnier Fructis Conditioner. Now I find that I can't detangle my hair. No matter how much times I run my fingers through it and the comb, it's as if I never did when I go back over that SAME area.
I read up on protein sensitivity and am wondering if maybe that's the problem as my hair feels brittle even with a saturation of conditioner. If this is the case, how to I get my hair back to where it was????
(Routine before: Wash with HE shampoo, detangle with HE Totally twisted conditioner. Leave in same conditioner and go. Now, wash with Suave, detangle with Garnier, twist with Cantu Shea Butter to twist my hair and coconut oil for the ends.)
Sigh!!!

Hi CurlySu,
Are you using Suave Daily Clarifying Shampoo as part of your regular haircare routine? If so, that might be part of your problem. One of the other more experienced curly vets can hopefull weigh in but I know that Suave Clarifying shampoo will strip and dry your hair out. I used Suave Daily Clarifying when I first started the CG method because I wanted to clean everything out of my hair so I could start the co-washing/CG method on a clean slate. It has SLS and is meant to get your hair "sqeaky" clean. I don't think it's good to use at all, let alone on a regular basis, unless you are trying to remove a lot of buildup and in that case you might want to use something less harmful like the ACV and/or baking soda recipes that can be found in the forum....sorry but I'm not sure where.

Ahhhh!!! That makes a LOT of sense because I was wondering why it would be the conditioners. Thanks you so much for responding! I'll stop using it from now.
