Transitioning Newbie
Hi Ladies,
After 15+ years of relaxing, I finally made the decision to transition back to my natural hair!
I'm a born and raised New Yorker, now living in New Jersey with my husband of one year [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.].
It's been approximately 11 weeks since my last relaxer and it's been TOUGH. Especially since I'm transitioning with a short cut. Pray for me [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.].
I'm looking forward to getting through this journey, getting to know you girls as well as learning more about my hair and products that will benefit me!

Re: Allow Me to Reintroduce Myself...
Hi There,
I am Monika, I live in Berlin, Germany and I am 39 yrs old. Sorry, no pics at this time I am still struggling with the upload, but I will post pics asap. I am an ICU-Nurse and love cooking and all things related to beauty inside and outside a person.
I dream of being a cosmetologist and holistic practicioner. Hopefully I can get my new career started in 2010.
I am a sister, friend, wife, stepmom, daughter and ..nearly 40....
I have always been natural except of 2 re.lxer. accidents in my mid-20s [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] .
@Nikki: I first stumbled over your picture (with dropping jawline and "iwantherhair" thoughts) and posts in the nappturality forum and was delighted when you started your own blog. L.o.v.e. it!! Thanks for being beautiful, inspiring and for setting up this forum!
Being natural and black in germany can be an adventure [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] but anyways, here I am with my curly head and soulful mind, looking forward to meet new curlfriends. My english is not the best, but I hope you can understand me....still learning
~currently me and my hair can`t live without .. HEHH, AOHSR, AOWC, Khadi Henna and shea butter (we bought 3 kilogram unrefinded handmade shea butter back from our trip to ghana in oct...this will last some time)~
~edit: blessed be my nephew who visits us this weekend. tech geek he is. and showed his auntie how to upload pics...~

Re: Allow Me to Reintroduce Myself...
Hello!
1. I am originally from upstate NY, but I now live in OKlahoma after a 4-yr stint in Germany.
2. I worked for the Army up until the end of November, and now I'm a housewife (only temporarily) looking to get back into the work-world.
3. I've always been natural. My mother told me my hair would fall out if I ever got a relaxer.
4. My favorite products are Herbal Essence Hello Hydration, Pantene Pro-V Relaxed and Natural deep conditioning mask, shea butter/coconut oil mixture, cream of nature shampoo (the old formula), and Garnier Fructise Sleek and Shine conditioner.
5. Currently uploading pics to create a Fotki.

Re: Allow Me to Reintroduce Myself...
Hi all ! My name is ReSHONDA and i was born in Ft. Huachuca, AZ. I have been living in GA for most my life. I am a Boutique owner, but currently i am a stay at home mom. I have 2 kids, Noah and Asia and i had two beautiful angels that passed as well. I am married to a wonderful Italian man who has supported, encouraged and loved me through all my hair dramas and even did my BC for me (now that's love!). I feel very blessed. I just celebrated 2 years of being natural and i am loving it . I use all natural/organic products and even make my own. My staple is Castor Oil for my twists and i make a gel from flaxseeds that is an awesome wave and curl definer! I really like Oyin Handmade's "Whipped Pudding" because my hair drinks it (lol). I love the conditioner (yellow one) in Taliah Wajiid's line and Aubrey Organics "Honeysuckle Rose" conditioner. I am always learning new things about my hair and i welcome any advice, help and tips! I am so happy to be a new member!

Re: Allow Me to Reintroduce Myself...
Hi Trenice! Your hair is beautiful from your avatar . My kids have texture more like yours where mine is a mixture of what i believe is 3c, 4a and 4b! I like Castor oil a lot, but it might be a little heavy for your hair. I have heard a lot about the line you use, but i decided a long time ago to try to use as natural as i can get. Check out a site called Oyin Handmade, they have really great products! I love them . Also there is one called Karen's Body Beautiful that i am hoping to try out soon. Your hair really does not look like you need a perm!! If i can think of anything to help, i will be sure to let you know, but in the meantime, there are some awesome video on Youtube about natural hair and such a rainbow of textures! Take care and God Bless

Introducing Myself and My Natural Transition...
Hi Ladies,
I messed up the first time. Anyhow, I am new to the community...
Where are you from: St. Louis, MO (born, raised, currently reside); Received my B.S. in Marketing from Alabama A & M University in Huntsville, so shout out to Alabama!!!
What you do: Assistant Manager (Walgreens); Spoken Word Poetry (Symmetry); PT grad student SIU-Edwardsville (Museum Studies & History)
How long you've been natural: I've been natural 1 year and 3 months; I did the BC this past July.
Fav products: I've recently become a product junkie and currently use Organix Coconut Milk shampoo & conditioner (which is BOGO Free @ Walgreens til 12/26/09). Before my BC I was using Sunsilk, after by BC I was using Tresemme' Natural. For moisturizing I apply a bit of Olive Oil, but since my hair is short and in a growing stage most of the time I mousse and go or 'fro' and go....
Products that I do plan to try and have heard great things about include is the Karen's Body Beautiful brand...
Before

As my hair grows I "try" to come up with something different to do until I achieve my desired length again, but I love every moment of my natural journey!!

Re: Allow Me to Reintroduce Myself...
My momma was a full blown beautician with the relaxing, buns, phony ponies, waves, curls and all for 20 + years; therefore I am being defiant against everything I know, love and grew up with, lol. I hate to say but my signle parent mom kept us feed and sheltered from $$$ she was raking (she since retired from the chair).

Re: Allow Me to Reintroduce Myself...
Hi Pinkrage! Your hair looks awesome . Is that a wash and go in your avatar? I was wondering about the Karen's Body Beautiful products. I was thinking about ordering some, but don't know what exactly to try. My hair is very thick and curly. Which of her products would give me a lot of moisture and curl definition? Appreciate if you could help! Thanks so much .
Re: Allow Me to Reintroduce Myself...
Reshon,
Thanks! That is a wash n go in my avatar. That was actually my second go with KCCC and KCNT! This time it was less crunchy than the first time I used it.
