WHAT IS THE BEST METHOD TO LOOSEN YOUR CURLS
WHAT IS THE BEST METHOD TO LOOSEN YOUR CURLS
My hair, Naja, is 4a and tight curled with major shrinkage problems. Naja rejects all things coconut but she loves shea butter. Naja cursed me out when I tried adding henna to her and had a serious hissy fit for 3 months, although I washed her 3-4 times a week.
I have been on a mad search to loosen my curls. I don't want to add heat to my hair but only 2 or 3 times a year. I have a wedding coming in May so that's #1 to straighten. Transition anniversary in September is #2 and Christmas is my #3.
I have tried bantu knots, large twists, roller sets and many different products with Naja and she gave me lip everytime.
I polled all the ones I have been reseraching online. What do you think will slap Naja in the face and loosen her up some? What should I bee adding to my mixtures???

Well for me it's none of the above choices. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Stretching the hair in buns, frequent deep conditioning, and amla has loosened up my curls, but not to the point where my hair is unrecognizable.

This is of course temporary loosening. Add water or letting my hair go a little dryer than normal and it tightens up again. Actually that's how I know it's time to condition.

Thanks. I saw the link and that's all I want, looser curls. Amla you say, the powder or the oil? I saw both on Amazon.com.
I saw you fotki, you're an artist, me too. You do great work.

Amla powder treatments. All I do is mix amla powder in water til it's a paste, apply to hair, sit for an hour or so, and rinse it out. If you can, try to get your Amla from an Indian grocery store.. you'll save yourself a few dollars.
And I checked your blog regarding the betonite treatments.. that's something I'd like to try out too. The only reason I say the treatments you listed haven't worked for me is because I haven't actually tried any of them yet.
Oh and thank you.. Go artists! Do you have any of your art on display in your Fotki? I've been in a creative rut for a while (like 2 years) but I hope to come out of it soon. I guess that's why I'm crocheting like a fiend. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

@BekkaPoo
Thanks. I will try and find the Amla powder next month after payday.
I don't know where I went wrong with the Bentonite Powder Treatment, maybe it's not for transitioners and the damaged parts of my hair is rejecting it.
I just finished a mural at a preschool, just some cartoon characters. I paint and do makeup to make extra money. I don't have a Fotki of my artwork yet. I was thinking about doing that but just never got around to it. When I find where my toddler hid my camera I'll take some pictures and post them, lol. When I get stuck I do a few still lifes. Next I'm working on some characatures of Bob Marley for a t-shirt company. Then I will be designing so video intro for a Youtuber. I wanted to get this stuff done soon because I return to school next week, oh well.
I always wanted to learn to crochet, my friend Alice just made me an infinity scarf for me.

If I place my hair in a bun sorta taut (sp?) At night, I'm left with somewhat loose curls in the a.m.
