Curl Activator
Hi, I was wondering if there are any curl activators that I could purchase from the drug store that work well. I have type 4 hair ( just started transitioning), and I would like for my hair to have more curl defintion. Any suggestions???

Re: Curl Activator
When I first BC'd the best thing for curl definition was conditioner for me. I cowashed with it, then did a rinse out and used it as a leave in. Also, I found that not using a comb helped my curls clump.
Re: Curl Activator
My thing is that I still have some of the relaxer in, and I havent done to the BC yet

You can still twist/curl the relaxed ends to make them blend with the natural hair.
Personally curl activator does nothing for me, and dries out my hair. I had a big jar of it, but I donated it to charity.

You're welcome Songwriter88. Maybe your hair will like curl activator though, but I know from past experience that my hair is not a fan of aloe vera gel or glycerin which seems to be the ingredients that the activator I had was based on.
Re: Curl Activator
I will try today since today is my wash day and I will try on one part of my hair. Lol....

Re: Curl Activator
I bought a bottle of Luster's Scurl "No Drip" Activator/Moisturizer the other day. Can I tell you that my twist set that I did last Wednesday night is still holding on and seems to look best as it gets older. I don't use a lot nor have I used it every day but I haven't had to retwist or touch up in a week and my twist sets usually only last 4 days.

Re: Curl Activator
the no drip runs about 3.99-4.99. i used it on my daughters and it works well definer her curls and maintaining the "wet look". I had not thought of using it myself...but I am currently looking for a good moisturizer and setting creme for my twist outs.

Re: Curl Activator
I got it from Walgreens. Probably not the best place to get it but it was $5.99. I'm sure it would be cheaper at one of the hood spots.

Yesterday I bought Care Free Curl Gold Instant Moisturizer (not the activator) and I think I am in love. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] I can't stop touching my hair. The only problem I had was the Soul Glo spot I left on the doctor's table today. The true test will be how it works on day two hair !

A lot of people have been mentioning this product lately.. I wonder what the big deal is? If it's not activator, what is it? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
And it left a wet spot? Hrm..
Re: Curl Activator
Bekka, its a moisturizer for the Care Free Curl texturizer ( thats what I am guessing). I think most people use the actual curl activator. I have to work my up to that I guess. I used some today and my hair still feels nice

Re: Curl Activator
Thanks Jnelly!
I just checked out the ingredients, and I see it has glycerine.. my hair does not like glycerine, so I guess I have to leave the CFC for you and the other ladies it works well on.

Re: Curl Activator
The curl activator that my hair likes the most is the Blue Duchess Curl Activator with the blue top that comes from the Dollar General Store, it's 1.00!!!
