Great Growth!
I did my bc on July 17, 2009 and although my hair normally grew pretty fast relaxed I think it's doubled it's rate of growth lol. I have no complaints though!

All I've done is keep it super moisturized. I make "Aloe Grow" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pdINFrPqm0 and use that daily, deep condition once a week, shampoo once a week and co-wash 3-4 times a week!

Healthy growth is inspiring. Are you using henna? I see a bit of color. Nice!

Re: Great Growth!
Hi, Ms. Dre! A "co-wash" is cleaning your hair using conditioner the way you would use shampoo. Many shampoos can be drying to the hair, and it is felt that a good conditioner will clean your hair without stripping it to the same extent that shampooing would do. Some good conditioners you can get for your co-wash from the drugstore include Herbal Essences Hello Hydration, Totally Twisted from the same line, pretty much any of the Suave conditioners (a favorite seems to be the Suave Naturals Tropical Coconut), Aussie Moist, Organics with either shea or coconut milk, and some of the Garnier Fructis conditioners. If you have a little more to spend, some people like to use products from Aubrey and Giovanni lines, as well as DevaCare, Jessiecurl, and a rather long laundry list of others.
Whatever you use, keep in mind a couple things: 1. It's the vigorous rubbing of your scalp that does the most to get the clean you're looking for. Use your fingertips, not your fingernails, and gently but definitely rub them over your scalp to dislodge the built-up oils and dirt that may be there. 2. Rather than rubbing your hair together as you see people do on shampoo commercials, it's better to squeeze and smooth the product through your soaking wet hair. This will get the product between all the strands without making detangling more of a nightmare than it has to be.
Hope this helps :-).

Re: Great Growth!
Hey everyone! Thanks for the supportive comments.
I don't think I really do anything special. Like I said I co-wash everyday (thanks cygnet for all the great info) and I use KBB Hair Milk as my leave in. Then I add coconut oil and do castor oil on my edges. I spray my hair constantly with the aloe grow I mentioned and linked. It's basically Aloe Vera Juice, water and peppermint oil. I love peppermint oil because it stimulates my scalp. I'm also going to do protective styling all winter. I put my hair in twists today and will take them out probably next Friday. Oh and I deep condition once a week. I'm still trying to find a good deep conditioner. I used henna n placenta this week and it made my hair hard. Maybe because I left it on longer than recommended (i lost track of time) because I don't think my hair is protein sensitive.
Also the color is not henna. It's Garnier Nutrisse in Chocolate Cherry I believe. Either that or Pomegranate. I can't remember lol. But it left my hair very soft and I would use it again. I am definitely going to try henna or amla at some point though!
Anyway my 4 month nappiversary is on Tuesday so w00t! And I'm going to Haiti for 10 days for the holidays with my mom and dad so I'm gonna get really good castor oil as well. I already told my mom to find me some hehe. Hope this info helps.

@labon10 my mom and dad retired there 3 years ago. This is the first Christmas I'm spending with them since then! I'm sooo excited! And it's going to be in the 90s everyday. Woohoo!
@beautiful.journee i just bought some more aloe vera today. I got it at Vitamin Shoppe and I bought the inner fillet Lily of the Desert aloe vera gel for $8.29. It's on sale right now actually! It was a pretty big bottle too. Hope that helps!

Growth
I just created my 1st pikistrip of my hair growth. I stopped wearing my weave and did the BC in August. I had a TWA but it wasn't super short because I had not relaxed my hair for a year. I am still loving the growth though. My hair definitely grows faster in its natural state. url=http://www.pikistrips.com/clicked/33185688][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][/url]
Re: Great Growth!
I really want to try the aloe gro! I BC'd for the third time this past May and I think I've gotten great growth. I cut it down to a twa about an inch long and now its about 4-5. My avatar picture was taken in November. It doesn't feel all that moisturized though. I think I'll try some of the deep conditioning suggestions from this forum.

I believe that should work fine also. I'm pretty sure that's what I used to use actually because I didn't realize there was a difference. As long as it's aloe gel it should work. Good luck! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

What is the differance? and why did you change to that one
