Re: xxShaunyxx
OK so I am officially 1 week post BC. I tried a wash and go puff one day, then twisted my hair and took it down on Friday for a twist out. Just like I thought, it was a dry mess. Practice makes perfect though so I'm going to proudly post my desert twist pics below and try again after I do a couple of days of wash and gos to try out my Ecostyler Olive Oil gel.

I think it's really cute!!! I'll have to take your word on the dry part but the curls look great
Re: xxShaunyxx
The twistout looks nice, but I know how you feel about the dry factor. Keep playing around with the EVOO and EVCO. Hopefully that will help.

Re: xxShaunyxx
Lynnie I'm waiting on a picture that I actually think my hair looks nice to change it.
I guess the picture doesn't really show the dryness but IMO it is dry.
I used Aussie Hair Insurance, EVCO, and Cantu Shea Butter leave in to moisterize and seal then used Carol's Daughter loc butter to do the twist. This worked on my 2 strands while I was transitioning but me no likey for my short hair now. I'm going to try another concoction when I twist my hair tomorrow

Re: xxShaunyxx
Busy day for me today . I'm headed back to work next week after being off for 3 months on maternity leave. I did another wash and go with MUCH better results. I co washed with Aussie Moist condish, moisterized with coconut oil and used Ecostyler Olive Oil for my gel. My curls are more defined now. I see that I have a looser curl in the front of my hair and a tighter curl on the rest of my head.
For a moisterize and seal with a WNG, how are you able to get the product in your hair when you're not supposed to interrupt the curl...or do I have that wrong? I used EVCO only but didn't rub it through my hair but as my hair is air drying it's beginning to look dry. What's a gal to do?

Good Morning. Here is a pic of my latest WNG puff. I can see that I missed some of my relaxed end (I self BC'd). I don't know if I'm going to get a professional to snip it or try again myself. I'm going to co wash my hair tomorrow and twist it, leave those in until Friday and try another twistout. I'll be stalking Lynnies page for tips cause I LOVE her twistouts..lol

Cute hair Shauny. What's in that Aussie Insurance product you're using? Have you tried leaving some conditioner in your hair instead of completely rinsing it out?

As for the relaxed ends still hanging around, just take your scissors and snip, snip, snip. I self BC'd too. I found relaxed end up to two week after I BC'd. When I saw them, I just cut 'em.
Thanks for the compliment. The key to a great twist out (at this length) is finding a good product for definition and making the twist small. By making the twist small, it is easier to cover the parts when you do the twist out.
When I untwist the two strand twist, I dont separate it a lot. I untwist it, then I may separate the two pieces one more time. For volume, I use my afro pick. I lift slightly at the roots.....this also helps cover the parts. I hope this makes sense. If you need anymore tips, please ask.

Re: xxShaunyxx
Thanks Lynnie...lol I just asked you for tips on your page
@Hampton - you know what, I didn't even look at what's in the Aussie Hair Insurance. I got that product tip from Blackonyx on youtube (love her) as a great water based moisterizer and went out and bought it. I see that a lot of people love the Giovanni 50/50 but I don't know where to find it yet. The Hair Insurance is almost gone so I'm looking to try something else next.

Welcome, congrats on being a mommy of an infant, BC & win!
I usually rake in the oils and leave in and scrunch in the gel. I try to put the gel only on the last 2/3 of my hair strands.
You do not have it wrong. I think most people mean do not touch hair when drying to interrupt curl. When I wear WnGs, I apply products when my hair is soaking wet. I apply oils, thick, rich conditioner then gel. The key for me is a good rich moisturizing conditioner. I LOVE AO's Honeysuckle Rose and HE HH for WnGs.Shauny wrote:Busy day for me today . Re: xxShaunyxx
I've been out of commision for a bit but I'm back. I tried a new style (stole it from bholmes) and I LOVE IT. It's my fav new style and I got 3 days out of it. I'm sure I probably could've gotten more but I hate for my hair to look dry so I washed it out. It's a twist puff. I twist in about 18 med/big puffs with Aussie Moist condish, cocunut oil, and CDs Black Vanilla leave in and CD's hair butter. My twist were soft but still defined. I work in the office 3 days a week and until it warms up in the Chi this will be my staple until I can master my 2 stand twists.

Re: xxShaunyxx
Thanks for the tips Chrs. When you scrunch in the gel does that help the curl to form back after having raked the other products in your hair? I'm going to try to do it again this weekend but everytime I try to add anything other than gel I lose my curl. I'll get it
