Twist and Curl!
Since we're on Curlynikki.com it's only right for each member to post their fiercest Twist-n-curl. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] I'm transitioning and haven't seen my hair in months, so I don't have any pictures.. Sorry!

Okay i have a questions - I get my TNC to go great except the ends. What can i do to make them more curly and hold longer?

Re: Twist and Curl!
try using set it free (deva curl), shea butter, or a light spray gel on your ends to get them to set. What I do is twist all of my hair and then just before I roll the ends, I apply a bit of Set it Free to each. You could also try smaller rollers--holds the curl better and is less likely to fall flat.

I cannot wait until I'm able to rock my hair in a Twist Curl...I think it comes out better on natural hair

Re: Twist and Curl!
Okay folks, I have a quick question about the Twist N Curl after a few days. Do you guys ever rewet your hair with water and conditioner, then retwist to refresh your do after a few days? Just wondering what is your maintenance regimen for the style. I usually just retwist it every night...but Im thinking I may need a refreshner.

Re: Twist and Curl!
how many twists does everyone do?
yesterday i put in over 30 and took them down this mornin. Most likely the fickle Ga weather will destroy it today because I ran out of my trusted gel that i love to use.

I end up having 20 twists total! I've only done the style twice, and followed the same instructions CurlyNikki has on her Twist N Curl Pictorial; divide the hair in 4 sections and make 5 twists per section. That has worked for me each time!

I have a long ways to go before i'm you and CurlyNikki's hair length, i know about 10 of them was small twists, my hair is soo funny like that.
FYI: My hair looks okay, it survived the drizzle so far.
Re: Twist and Curl!
Does your hair have to be a certain lenght/texture to do a TnC?
My hair has grown since my Avatar picture, but it's still pretty short compared to all the ladies who've posted on here. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I'm having one of those I-HATE-my-short-hair, why-won't-it-grow-so-I-can-style-it days.

Re: Twist and Curl!
@BlakButterfli I feel your pain, I transitioned for about 8 months and wore sew-in's to promote growth. I started wearing my natural hair last weekend and I must say I'm sooooo disappointed at how short it looks. I know a lot of it is due to shrinkage. I love the texture of my hair (other than the frizz) but I'm really not feeling the length.

Re: Twist and Curl!
lol @ and w/ NikkiE - Yeah, we just have to hope it gets better. It's all about the shrinkage unfortunately. Though, I've found when I twist my hair w/ Carol's Daughter Healthy Hair Butter, I get a very soft twist-out that has a little hold too it. Only prob, it seems to get dry unless I do this everyday.
The thing that sucks is, I don't think I'll ever have the full head of hair that I thought would sprout when I went natural. I'm really wondering what the point is at times. At least when it was relaxed and short, I could curl it different ways. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Maybe I need to be on Nikki's couch today. lol

Re: Twist and Curl!
@Blakbutterfli, I definitely think you'll be able to grow a full head of hair it just might take longer cause you'll lose a few inches to shrinkage, be patient, I have to tell myself that every morning!!
And I agree with you, when my hair was relaxed I was able to wear more styles, BUT I do have a much Healthier head of hair now. And that reason alone is why I have not relaxed my hair. In addition to the fact that I worked extra hard to get this lil taste of hair i got! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
As for twists at least they work for you, I tried a twist out and it was a HOT mess! I'm now rocking a rodset which I did with tiny blue rod's, and it's trying to grow on me, this is my 3rd hair style this week!
You should definitely sit on the couch but scoot over cause I need to join you! LOL!

Re: Twist and Curl!
I'm feeling y'all on the wanting length thing. DANG! It takes like TWO YEARS to have hang, huh? OMG. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] In the meantime, I'm constantly checking against my index finger (3 inches) how "long" my hair is. It's almost three inches, but because it's curled up now (no-comb/daily cowash/leaving condish in hair), it looks like it's 1 inch long! BOO!
