Whole Foods Market: My #1 Source for Hair Goodies!!
Day 1: My FAVORITE place to buy natural hair goodies!
I must confess...my favorite place to go hunting down products for my hair is at Whole Foods Market!
Throughout my natural hair journey so far, I've realized that I've been leaning towards more natural products and Whole Foods has been the perfect source for products I know won't be harmful to my hair. It's interesting though, ever since I've been shopping there, I've been more motivated to start mixing my own concoctions for my hair as well out of the plethora of natural ingredients they sell!
People sometimes laugh when they hear that I get 99.9% of my hair care products from a health foods store, but I surely don't mind lol.
Here are some of my favorite items to buy at Whole Foods:
1. Virgin Coconut Oil
2. Jojoba Oil
3. Sweet almond oil
4. Essential oils: peppermint, lemon, lavender
5. Dr. Bronner's castille soap (liquid & bar)
6. South of France's line of French Milled Soaps
7. Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose Conditioner
8. Raw honey
9. Extra virgin olive oil
10. Vegetable glycerin
11. AAA Shea Butter
12. Avocado oil
*Just to name a few!*
I know I CAN'T be alone in my devotion to Whole Foods Market or any other health food stores as my source for hair goodies!https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_biggrin.png

DAY 2: Reviving a Two Strand Twist-Out
Last Thursday evening, I decided to two-strand twist my hair with the hopes of being able to rock a twist-out for the entire week. I took out the twists on Saturday morning and I must say that my hair is holding up pretty well today!
To help revive my twist-out a bit, last night I two-strand twisted a couple sections in the front of my head to just help re-define those areas. I twisted with a homemade concoction that I like to call my "hair and body pudding" and then went to sleep with my satin bonnet on.
Here are some pictures of my twists after I retwisted some sections from last night and the final result!
What kinds of things do you guys do to help your twist-outs last?

Re: NaturalChica
I usually retwist my whole head in chunky twist around day 3 hair to get a few more days of wear and a more stretched look. My avatar is an example of that.

Re: NaturalChica
@LilMsPuddles Hilarious! But I TOTALLY understand. I tell myself that when I go in there, I MUST go in there with a list or else the bill could easily get close to $100. So sad...i know, lol. I'll definitely be sharing some recipes so feel free to stop by : )LilMsPuddles wrote:Welcome! I can't be let in whole foods without a chaperon I'll definitely be coming back to borrow some recipes!

If I do them on wet hair and use my bonnet at night I can stretch a twist out for a week.
Re: NaturalChica
Welcome! I plan to check out your blog and YT channel.
To help twist out lasts, I spritz mine with a water based concotion then apply moisturizer and oil and twist hair in four to six large twists.

Day 3: Looking BACK!
I was going through some old pictures last night, which made me want to put together a small picture board of my natural hair journey so far. It has been such an amazing journey so far, but MAN...when you put pictures side by side of each month in your natural hair journey...it can be really encouraging. Thought I would share this with you all today! : )
and thanks for all the warm welcomes ladies! It really does feel like a fam on here : )
@Freestyles Love the dancing smilies, lol!!
@NubieNattyTwn-kisha That mango butter sounds lovely! Please do share how it works out for you.
@ChrsLvsBks Thanks for sharing your tips. Would love to find out what you put in your water-based concoction : )

Re: NaturalChica
The hair board is a great way to display and show off your hair--gorgeous!
The water based concotion is approximately 70% water, 25% HE HH and 5% aloe vera gel (kind from health food store). It is quite moisturizing. I plan to add oils and EOs to it for an added boost. I use it at night to moisturize and some mornings if my hair is dry. In the summer, I plan to add glycerin or another humectant. Let us know if you try anything like this.
I wrote on another board I kept looking at your avatar thinking I had seen you somewhere. I had. I see you on thecoilreview.com--small world.
I, too, was raised in PG and still live and work here.
