MakeupVixen 2010 Empty MakeupVixen 2010

Post by makeupvixen 11th January 2010, 5:21 pm

First time participating in a challenge and I can't wait til April to see how we all do.

Been natural since 9-9-09 and my photo journal is at http://public.fotki.com/makeupvixen/

Today, 1/11/10, is my first entry in the challenge.

Last night I deep conditioned my hair with my own homemade deep conditioner. I added Black Jamaican Castor Oil to it and seal it with Coconut Oil, Avocado Butter and Shea Butter. I massaged a little Black Cumin Seed Oil to test it's benefits.

Thanks Curkie Cute 1121

I have both the old and new version of the JBCO. The old one is really think and has a nutty smell, the new one is a tad bit thinner, just a tad, lol.

I've been using it on my ends for the past 2 weeks instead of all over my head, it's just to thick. I baggy my hair at night and I still haev oil on my pillow in the morning so I'm using less of it. I do love adding it to my favorite conditioners and my hair loves it too.

Hey LynnieLuve,

So far I've been reading and people say that transitioning started when you stopped using a perm, I guess that's right, Right??? Well, I haven't had a perm in over 7 years. I did however have braids for 2 years straight and it strated taking my hair out. I got tired of fussing with 10 hours of getting my hair braided in a hard chair, sitting in some salon for 5 hours for a condition and flat iron, so I decided to go all natural on 9-9-09. I came up with my own hair care products at home, sampled a lot of stuff and finally found some things to make my hair grow. From 9-9-09 until 12-15-09 I got 4 inches in growth. I'm hoping to get 6-7 inches this year and that should give me Bra Strap Length hair, hopefully.

Twist and curl.

Put some Organix Shea Butter Conditioner and some JBCO in a spray bottle with some water and applied it to the braids. Took the braids down, put on a black head band to get the curls out my face and added a flower I got from Etsy.

Hi Corygentri,

Yes, I'm a makeup artist and have been doing makeup for 8 years now. I have worked for Sephora for 1 year, I worked for MAC Cosmetics for over 7 years now. I travel across the globe to do makeup applications. I'm a film major at Loyola Marymount University and I do my own special effects with makeup as well.

I'm here to answer any question that you may have so fire away!

oh and I'm building my portfolio at makeupvixen.blogspot.com but I just started. I will also be doing You Tube tutorials in the near future, my username these is Tastiredbone, for now until I change it to something makeup related.

MakeupVixen 2010 Empty 1-13-10

Post by makeupvixen 13th January 2010, 12:49 pm

Rinsed my hair last night, leave a little conditioner in it. I braided it in 6 sections, put a heat baggy on and went to sleep.

Took down the hair, shook and went. Didn't add any extra product, didn't spray on anything, Just shook and left. Hair still soft but fuller:

Used some intensive overnight hair repair from Avon last night with some Type 4 hair cream from MyHoneyChild.

I got some shrikage going on but at least it's soft. I guess if I add some water to it around lunch time it should loosen up a bit.
