Re: The Flexirod Adventures!
I'm a horrible poster!!!!! LOL
I have three Thank God I'm Natural stories to share:
1. A friend of mine (he's like my big brother) came with his family from Oregon to visit this weekend. He brought his seven year old daughter with him, whom I haven't seen since she was 3! Cutie pie was wearing the CUTEST braidout, and I had my hair in a twisted updo. She took one look at my hair, and screamed "MOMMY, she has twists like ME!!!!" We then talked hair, yes me and the 7 year old. Her mom has a relaxer, so to see me she felt so special, which made me feel all the more special, and just plain old happy.
2. Mom Dukes hasn't had a relaxer since I GOT MARRIED IN NOVEMBER!!!!! We've been talking, and this accidental transition may be permanent!!!! STAY TUNED!!!!
3. My bestfriend got rushed to the ER this weekend. WHY you may ask? A chemical burn. Homegirl was giving herself a texturizer, and some slid straight into her EYE. Chemical abrasion on the cornea with a lovely eyepatch to boot. I've seen childhood pics of her, and I've BEEN told her to let got of chemicals--there's NO NEED! Somehow, I think this may have been the last straw....
I have these moments sparingly, but to have them all in one weekend was quite eventful!!!!!

WOW ... eventful is right!!! Sorry to hear about your BFF ... hopefully she, like your mom, may end up with an accidental transition.
That story about the little girl is soooo sweet!!!! My daughter is a big part of why I leave my hair in its natural curl pattern.

It really brightened up my day.... I'm not blessed with children yet, but if I have a girl I'd hope she would say the same to me... =)

The story about the little girl was so cute! Maybe her mother will transition
Yay for Mom dukes! (I use that term all the time, LOL)
Chemical burn in the eye...if you have to were protective gear to use it, it should not be placed on your body

Re: The Flexirod Adventures!
Happy Wednesday!
So, bestie will NOT be using any more chemicals!!!!!!! AND has been asking for hair tips!!!!! YAY!!!! I've told her I'll do my best to help, but her hair is more 3a, and mine 3c/4a, so products may react differently. But I've told her about the importance of moisture, moisture, MOISTURE as well as deep conditioning, especially since her hair is color treated....
Hair update: Today it's in a WnG via the accordion method using Suave green apple conditioner. However, beginning Friday, I will be joining the twist challenge for the next six weeks..... check Bholmes87 thread in the general section if you're interested.....

Aww...the story about the little girl is sweet, reminds me of when I shampooed my lil cousin's hair and I told her how her hair is so curly and she look at the mirror and was like " I do have curls!" She's natural, but my mom keep her in braids or give her a press n curl so she never really see her hair in its natural state.

I was thinking the same thing, only because it won't fit! Hahaha but I'm thinking about mini twists and doing a roller set on them so that's an option. Or just a roller set/rod set. Or a partial up-do with twistsCurlieCutes1121 wrote:HELP!!!!

I was thinking roller set/silk wrap. If it didn't come out sleek and straight, I'll do a bantu knot out.... Ugh, girl I just don't know!

Shampoo update:
I washed with the Curls for Target shampoo on Friday--LOVE IT, but the consistency is different than the regular Curls cleansing cream. The Target version is not as thick in consistency, meaning I had to use a LOT of it. Almost 1/3 of the bottle is gone, so I'm not feeling that. I'm quite upset!
But I love the shampoo!
Hubby, upon hearing my shampoo woes, surprised me with getting me a bottle of Burt's Bee's shampoo! I love that guy

Updates, Updates, Updates!!!!
Hey ladies!!!
Sorry it's been soooo long! School this last few weeks has been brutal--but its the end of the semester, so it's to be expected. I've also started the job search process, which is.... SLOW... Graduation is in a couple of weeks, and family's been on me. I'll be the first to graduate in my family with a Bachelor's, so it's kind of a big deal and EVERYONE wants to come, but tickets are limited =(
On to some hair stuff:
1) I think I'll be wearing a BKO for graduation.
2) Burts bees shampoo = Total fail. It rinsed out fine, so I thought it would be a keeper right? Wrong. My dry hair felt like straw, but I assumed it was because of a wash n go. So that night I came home and prepped for a braidout, moisture routine and all. The next day--a straw like, dry, crappy braidout?!!!! I could only attribute it to the shampoo.
3) Product junkie unleashed: I caved and bought some Bee Mine stuff. I've been using the Lucious Moisture Cream. Verdict? out of . Why? Ok, this stuff makes my WnG's feel like cotton candy, and I ALWAYS have trouble retaining moisture with my WnG's--not anymore! The ONLY reason I couldn't give it that extra star was because it hasn't done anything amazing for my twists. But, then again, I never have moisture problems with twists, so..... I've since ordered the shampoo, the alma shampoo bar, and Avocado cream conditioner. I'll keep your curlies posted on how they work, and promise to update my thread more!!!!!

Re: The Flexirod Adventures!
I put a texturizer in my natural hair, (Just for me), now my hair is very dry, half of my hair is straight and stringy, I can't do nothing with it. Do you all know what I can do to get my hair from being so dry and stringy, and straight? Do I have to start all over to be natural? Please help out

Re: The Flexirod Adventures!
Hey there,
As one who has had two texturizers in the past, unfortunately you'll have to start back at square one. This isn't to say that you'll have to BC all over again. For me, my texturizer process left me also with limp, mostly straight hair. No kink, wave, or curl. So, I gradually grew my hair out, cutting an inch here and there as I went. Eventually I cut my hair to a chin-length bob which enabled me to start over. For now, lots of gentle handling, LOTS of DT's, and find styles to help blend the two textures as you go (TnC's, braids/braidouts, bantu knot outs, etc).... HTH!!!

Re: The Flexirod Adventures!
Hey ladies,
Sorry, for again, I've been MIA. A dear, dear friend of mine and the hubbs died suddenly over the weekend. I'm still trying to come to terms, but the man was like my dad, so it's rough. To make matters worse, I had a test in a class today and BEGGED my professor to let me take it at least tomorrow since I was with the family all this weekend. Well, that was met with a no, so guess who's probably getting a D this semester
I just need a hug.... and a pint of Hagen Daas....
Surprisingly, I did managed to stay twisted =)

Morning CC...
WOW...that is a lot to deal with, and I can't believe your professor didn't at least let you take the test later today!! I understand why he said no...cause they think the answers will get out there once the test has been given.
My prayers are with you, and I'm sending you a big warm hug!!! (((hugs)))
Be blessed....

Thanks KNH--I felt that hug from here...=)
for my shealoe mix, I'm still perfecting it. As soon as I have it down, I will SO post it! My measuring is never quite the same, but my hair still likes it regardless.
