So....I see I'm a little late, but WOW your WnG is the business!!!! I really like that look on you. BIG is the perfect word!!! I don't know much about BKO's, but I like your results.

Happy Tuesday!

So, my beef with BKO's--they only work for me one DAY!!!! Last night I actually put my hair in about 6 knots to preserve the style, and I looked like Medusa this morning when I took them down!

Well, at least it only took 20 min to put them in! Will be co-washing tonight--idk what to do: either twists or a WnG....

So....

Decided to twist after my co-wash--and realized why I like twisting on dry hair. Man, I woke up this am and my hair shrank soooo much!

Morning after (they're all stuck to my head and what not):

I LOVE YOUR BANTU KNOT OUT!!! I HOPE MINE COME OUT THAT GOOD. I loosed one knot and everything looked good except the ends. My ends are so bushy. Any idea how I can smooth them out? I used whipped shea/oil mix and a little IC Fantasia gel for hold. Any suggestions/advise will be very much appreciated. TIA The Flexirod Adventures! - Page 12 Icon_smile

I loved it too! Wish it would last longer though.... Oh well--I'm going to a wedding next month, and I think that'll be my style... but then again the wedding's in FL, so a WnG would be better....

Ok, I'll stop rambling!
I did use something for hold (Garnier I believe), but I didn't put much of it on my ends (if any). I spritzed the ends with water (as with the rest of each section) but I then just sealed my ends with shea and oil and put the holding product on the root to about 1 in. from the ends. Doing that should weigh the hair down some (although for me, not that much lol) but will smooth the ends a bit.

HTH! Can't wait to see you're results!

Thanks so much for that info. That is exactly what I did. But from the 2 knots I pulled out the ends don't look bushy. I am trying to salvage the look before tomorrow. It's my husband's birthday and I want to look nice for him The Flexirod Adventures! - Page 12 Icon_wink . Any other suggestions . If not it's ok. I make hae to save the style for when my hair grows out some more. The Flexirod Adventures! - Page 12 Icon_rolleyes

I had a knot or two with the bushy ends. I coated my finger tips with a bit of my Garnier and oil, grabbed the ends and twirled (like when you two strand twist and get to the ends and twirl). That helped it some

ANOTHER QUESTION, DO YOU COMB OUT YOUR HAIR FOR THE BANTU KNOT OUTS?

I did actually use a brush to smooth the style. Finger detangled first, though. I would like to get a Denman brush, but used the one I had on hand:

The Flexirod Adventures! - Page 12 00810

I've done bantu knot outs in the past without brushing, and on me they look more like chunky twist outs--which I like too, but when it's not the look you're going for, they look "all wrong." LOL

Thank you so much. I am trying not to comb my hair to much but these type of styles require it. I really want to encourage clumping. I think I will try Sweet's wash n go next time around. I just want to look crazy, you know..... The Flexirod Adventures! - Page 12 Icon_lol

Exactly: for smoother styles (BKO's, rod sets, etc), I do have to brush or comb...

For my big hair (twist/braid outs, WnG), I just use my fingers. The last WnG I posted (in my avatar) I actually combed out, which broke up the clumps, since I was going for more of a 'fro look.

Overall, though--unless I'm trying to achieve a set style, I only detangle maybe once a week or every two weeks...

IDK what happened (well, yeah I do)...

I used HH as my leave in Tuesday night, and my twists were like sticks this morning (still soft, but no curl).... my twistouts have totally been sucking lately, and I don't know what to do?!!

Starting over today with a WnG....

Happy note: My BnB order came! Will be henna-ing on Sunday!

So....

I did a WnG using the Accordion method ala Jess:
One thing to note: When Jess said there would be shrinkage, she wasn't playing!!!!! Here's what I used:

1. Co-washed/detangled with HE None of your Frizzness
2. Rinsed; used Suave Vanilla Floral as my scrunching condish (since it's cone free)
3. Hit it with water to evenly distribute; then used Garnier Wet shine as my gel.
4. Air dry for about 20 minutes, then blowdried the rest, gently tugging at the ends to give it some length (I had some peppermint shea on my hands to avoid frizz)

So you can see the shrinkage:

Before the blow dryer:

After: It's still a little damp since I didn't want to ttally disturb the curls

WOW is right!!! What curl definition. I'm going to check and see if MC's video has loaded up yet. I want to see her results as well.

OBTW...your shrinkage wasn't too bad!

The shrinkage is CUTE. That style looks awesome on you. Shrinkage will be your friend when your twistouts brush against your shoulders. I truly believe that shrinkage helps with length retention because it keeps your ends up off of rough surfaces like clothing and coats.
