JOME, don't let your sister get you worked up! Give it time--she'll be asking YOU for hair advice!!!

Best BnC ever!!!!
Ok, so the one pic doesn't do it justice, but I loved my BnC today!!!!! It technically wasn't a BnC--it was more like B/TnC. Some of my hair (the coily parts) were braided, and my hair with a looser curl pattern was put in twists. The various textures gave it a really cool look. Wore my hair out today--looking for a retail position until I get my desired teaching gig, and was told that my hair was "fashion forward today." =)
More snow--so I will use my remaining henna tomorrow--especially knowing I'll be able to afford more in the future... LOL!

She didn't get me worked up....she's still alive! Random note: It's snowing here in Georgia! I'm talking the Southern part of Georgia! My backyard looks like a winter wonderland.

so my henna....
Looked like booboo!!!! UGH!!! I mixed, and mixed, and mixed, but the consistency wasn't all that smooth--not like the last batch. I guess yogurt doesn't freeze well after a while?
Oh well--pre-pooed, washed my hair, and now it's DC'ing with a mix of Organix tea tree mint, suave vanilla floral, EVOO, and honey... will most likely twist afterwards...

Twisted my hair Saturday night, and have been wearing a Rosa Parks-ish roll with the twists in for the last two days:
Verdict: Epic fail on my roll technique, but hey--it was still cute and wearable!
Front (I'm feeling the asymmetrical look of it!)
Beautiful just like that smile! I love it!

Re: The Flexirod Adventures!
3 DAYS 'TIL FRIDAY!!!!!
Another pinned up do today... slightly different, don't remember how I pinned it though.... but it's cute! My twists are getting a bit frizzy, so it's either time to retwist some or to just do the twistout... I'm trying to wait a least until Thursday though...
I'll be honest though--the more ways I find to style my twists, the easier it gets to leave my hair alone. Plus, there's something so classy about an updo--I always get compliments, and even if you lay a bobby pin slightly different, everyone always thinks I did something completely out of the norm!
But 4 days with twists is really good for me!

Re: The Flexirod Adventures!
Well I hope you're rocking a fabulous twist out then!!!
I definitely like what you said about pinning your hair a different way. That's one of the things I love about natural hair - you do something slightly different and people think you spent hours re-doing your hair! lol either that or they think you're a hair stylist cuz us naturals like switch up the do's quite often

So true! It's hilarious when I get the "OMG what did you do to your hair NOW?"--I will actually try to think of something I did different... LOL Once I told this girl "um, I moisturized and sealed this morning instead of last night?"
She was a bit perplexed... LOL @ our natural jargon!

Re: The Flexirod Adventures!
Both days are cute...did you re-twist to get your second day hair? Just curious...
OBTW~ I read your response on JnB's tread.
I am a very concerned parent , and very involved with both of my son's education. I want them to have every opportunity available to them. As black young men they will have struggles, but the lack of education will not be a factor that will hold them back.
Just a little background on my youngest..he's AD/HD and he doesn't like for me to share this with anyone!! I had him tested when he was in the 1st grade, because by the second half of school his grades was dropping, he was all over the place as well as creating a disruption for himself and his classmates.
Medication was the primary recommendation, and at first I was dead set against it. However, his pedi had a long talk with me and I finally relented put him on meds. (only during school)
His grades jumped back up, and his conduct did a 360..he was not the same kid. Most AD/HD kids fall through the cracks, but I will not allow that to happen with my son. Elementary was great for him...the teachers really cared, worked with my son, and were open with communicating with me. However, middle school and high school has been a challenge...and I can't figure out why.
I'm sorry for going on and on in your tread. I just wish there were more individuals like yourself and JnB that wanted to teach and make an impact in these kids lives. I wish both you and JnB were teachers at my son's school. Where one or two are gathered together.....
