Affordable Protein and Sulfate Free Shampoo?
I'm looking for a protein/sulfate free shampoo. I use a lot of conditioner and oils on a daily basis because I'm transitioning and my hair is coarse and tends to be very dry. I'd like to shampoo once a month to cleanse my hair of product build-up. The only problem is that I can't find any protein/sulfate free shampoos at Sally's or any local drug stores and all of the shampoos that I see online seem very expensive. Any recommendations?

What is your budget for shampoo? The ONLY shampoo I use right now is Deity of Hair Plant Shampoo found here http://www.deityusa.com/product.php?productid=16133&cat=249&page=1 . It costs $11 but considering you only use it once a month, it should last quite some time. It is very moisturizing.
You can get it at Duane Reade/Rite Aid/CVS...I don't know about Sallys because we don't have a Sallys by where I live in Manhattan

I'm not sure if Trader Joe Nourish spa shampoo is protein free but it is sulfate free and super affordable. I'm pretty sure it's a moisturizing shampoo so I don't think it should have protein
Re: Affordable Protein and Sulfate Free Shampoo?
I went to Trader Joe's and I got the Nourish Spa shampoo. I used it today and so far I LOVE IT! It was $2.99, it smells so good and it took very little to make my hair suds up. My hair feels so clean and non-straw like. After putting conditioner on it, it felt just as moisturized as it did before I washed it! (I was afraid that shampooing my hair would eliminate all of the hard work and time that it took me to keep my hair moisturized by drying it out...which is something that protein/sulfate shampoos typically do to my hair.) Thank you Ekaette!

So far my hair doesn't like the giovanni 50:50, but the direct leave-in is okay. Still not the greatest.

the leave-in deoes absolutely nothing for me lol. I have to mix it with some of everything to get even the least amount of benefit from it. You tried the 50:50 shampoo or conditioner? I am a fan of the smooth as silk and the tea tree conditioners...haven't found a shampoo that i love yet :-/

Lol, yeah that's why I said it's okay. I have the 50:50 conditioner though. I just bought it a couple of days ago and I washed twice, still nothing impressive. I bought the tea tree shampoo, it smells good but nothing special.

I use Elasta QP Creme Conditioning Shampoo. It's sulfate free, very moisturizing, and $2.99 for an 8 ounce bottle.

I really needed this thread since I've been searching for a shampoo without sulfate. I haven't been to trader joe's in ages. I really want some naan bread from them.

There's always Creme of Nature, the OLD formula, if you can find it! I hate shopping at beauty supply stores, but that is the only place over here that has it.
